Lightbulb Gapan FI(R) Scholarships

Do you have to pass the pre entry FIC flight test before applying for the Gapan scholarships?. .. .They say you only need a PPL; what benefit would there be in having an instructors rating before the CPL-would it just mean that you couldn't get paid?

Web site states 19th April not 6th! Which is correct?. .. .Also, you used to be able to download the application form and send it in. This method was cancelled recently and all requests for application forms must be made in writing to GAPAN.

Hey Speedbird - don't get too depressed - I also got a reject from GAPAN a few days ago.

I suspect from your profile that I'm a bit older than you, I'm 28 and I have some flying experience...around 45 hours (not all at once!)....so maybe that is why I was not selected.

I noticed that you are current on Grob 109 - are you doing that with Air Cadets? Just out of interest!

Hey people, I got told to take a hike to, wasn't to impressed with the letter they send either, they could cut the cr-p and say sorry instead of saying how well written your application was ........

It was funny to for the fact I did the GAPAN tests a month ago and in my interview I got told I should defenatly get an interview at least???

Oh well, until next year.

Good luck to all of you,

Cool GAPAN sponsorship

I'm sure I'm not the only one who is aware of the GAPAN sponsorship for a CPL/IR (www.gapan.org or see this weeks Flight International for details).

I was wondering what people knew about this scheme - which I gather has been running for several years and is obviously extremely competitive with only one sponsorship available. Is anyone aware of any 'conditions' other than the stated entry criteria. Can anyone who has applied previously let me know what the selection process involves (standard dots and numbers and interview?).

Also, what is CTC ATP that people are refering too? I would be very grateful for info.

Cheers

Talking GAPAN ATPL Sponsorship

Hey folks!

Not sure if any of you know but GAPAN are running a sponsorship scheme for frozen ATPL.

You need a PPL and class 1 medical to apply and i aint any of them so that counts me out! DOH!

Anyhow, take a look!

Question GAPAN ATPL Scholarship - Do previous RAF aptitude tests count?

Hi Guys,

I am looking into the GAPAN JN Somers Scholarship for this year and need a little info if anyone has any!

The tests are carried out at OASC, RAF Cranwell, but I was wondering if any previous attempts at the aptitude tests (Via an RAF application) count towards your number of 'go's' so to speak.

I have done the tests twice now which is the maximum specified by the RAF - does this therefore mean that I will not be allowed to sit them again under a GAPAN application?

Any info would be great!

Cheers.

Did you pass at the second attempt?

The 2x limit as far as i'm aware is for RAF Selection/sponsorship, although someone probably knows better

Good Luck anyway

Wodka

I went through selection for the JN Somers scholarship back in 2000.

I informed GAPAN that I had successfully passed the aptitude tests twice before with the RAF, but they didn't seem to mind and asked me to do them again anyway. So it is probable that they will expect you to do them again too!

I hope this info helps and good luck with the rest of the selection!
