I first had a skype HR interview back in Feb 2103, heard nothing until an e-mail came through back in October saying was i still interested if so please let us know immediately. Advised them YES, and again nothing until December when i was told i need to do HR interview AGAIN as it had been over 6 months since the previous one....2nd HR interview completed mid december.

Seriously bad communication with these guys, never respond to messages!!

All gone silent again....

Same here. Had the HR interview first week of december and told in a week to expect tech interview. Wrote them for info after waiting a couple of weeks and told to expect an email the next day with more info. That was pre xmas. Still waiting. Have written twice and gotten auto responses. Wishe we could all band together and treat them the same as they treat us.

my first post to pprune

ive been lurking for years and finally made the jump to join (thanks pprune!)
here is the latest scoop on airline jobs in philippines.... tiger was purchased by cebu last month. air asia is hiring a few but only filipinos and cebu has over hired. they expect to start looking again in august. i hold a philippine caap ATP with a320 type, 1st class medical, ROC-a , CFI, flight eng written, 2800 total and permanent resident visa , cedula, tin, sss card etc etc have gone a couple of times directly to cebu office and HR lady doesn't even bother to come out of their office to take my resume'. i just left it with the receptionist. the next month i returned and asked to speak with her and mentioned i have left my resume' the previous month and had not heard back from them and was surprised due to the "pilot shortage" and she replied and was polite (as all filipinas are) and said " please understand sir, we have people like coming in nearly every day dropping off their resumes' and we receive dozens of emails every week from qualified pilots like yourself from all over the world and we have over a thousand resumes on file, if you meet our qualifications we will call you in for an interview". Well ive been waiting now 5 months .... maybe they will call me in august ....but what year ?

Cebu Interview

Hi all

Anybody with news on interviews. I just had my HR interview on Skype today. How long before they generally contact you. Interview took about 40 - 45 min.

I am 3000 TT with 2200 turbine on King Air 200/350 and EASA A320 rated with base check done at cockpit4u.

I felt like I represented myself well and answered everything satisfactorily but who ever knows in aviation...

Be good to hear from other aviators currently waiting. Whats next, technical I guess? Hopefully give good notice to prepare.

Luggage,

I had to wait about 2 to 3 weeks from the HR interview until the tech interview. I got about 18 hours notice for the tech interview.

Technical

PHF.. Thanks for the info.

18 hours, what a joke. Sounds about right in aviation. I get the feeling the company and HR are running around like headless chickens.

Best I hit a few books. I see lots of A320 positions being advertised now in Asia and Middle East. Looks like this is the year aviation is finally turning around and coming good again.

Luggage,

If it wasn't for email access via mobile phone I may well have missed that tech interview, I ended up taking the afternoon off work to revise.

Tech Interview

PHF

If you dont mind could you please tell me what to expect with regards to the tech. Is it systems such as hydraulics, electrical etc or is it just everyday stuff such as speeds, MTOW, pax numbers, the usual stuff.

Luggage,

My interview was for the ATR not the Airbus, but the tech interview was mainly about speeds and memory Items. The only other aircraft knowledge question was to state differences between the ATR42 and ATR72, which obviously wont apply for yourself.

I wouldn't know for certain if the A320 tech interview follows the same format.

Tech Interview

PHF

How long ago did you pass the tech interview and have you been called for sim check yet?

I presume sim is done over there and at our expense with regards to flights and hotel etc.

Im still waiting to hear if I passed HR interview, only happened 2 days ago though so could be another 2 to 3 weeks still. I hope I find out soon though.

I received an email just before Christmas to say I had passed the tech interview. They also invited me to take the compass test and sim check and asked me to nominate dates to say when I was available. I replied but have received no further confirmation since.

As I understand the travel to the Philippines is at your expense. Once you pass the sim check they said they would cover expenses for licence conversion and visas but with a twelve month bonding arrangement.

To be honest I am not holding out much hope this will amount anything.

HR and Tech

PHF

I am still waiting to hear from them regarding the HR. The tech will be on the 320 for me and then after that we will see what happens.

I guess if I am offered a sim ride I will consider it but I am not wasting a lot of money if like you said it is not going to amount to anything. I dont have much faith in this company to be honest.

We would be playing under their rules with no protection on payment of salaries or any money owed to us after a bonding period. I am very skeptical about going to work there and still very undecided even if I were to be offered something.

I dont know what is more important to them at present in terms of getting pilots for the 320 or ATR, I guess it is where they are short of crew the most. Lets see if I pass the HR and tech first before I get too carried away.

Good luck with the sim, when are you looking at heading out there.

Luggage,

Wish I knew, as said I replied stating when I would be available but they have yet to reply with a confirmed date.

But I did notice Direct Personnel only two or three days back had an advert out for experienced FOs (500 on type) and Captains for an Asian based operator which I believe is Cebu from the advert description. So it looks as though they are seeing if they can get experienced crews before considering just those with a rating. Although I have an ATR rating my previous heavy TP experience it is on a different type.

Experience on type

PHF

I think a lot of operators will struggle to get experience on type as they are just not offering the cash and the market is really starting to recover now.

Turkish for example ask for 1500 ON TYPE FOR 320/737 DRIVERS but offer nowhere near as much money as in parts of Asia or the sand pit.

Certain Asian carriers like Tiger, Cebu, HK Express etc will also not offer the money that carriers like Cathay and Emirates offer so will find it very hard to get a guy with 1500 on type especially for an F.O. position.

If you have a captaincy on type you can basically pick and choose so F.O. slots will have to be filled with guys who just have experience regardless of type. Of course some carriers will still get newbies to buy type rating and joining whilst working for absolute peanuts.

Let me know what happens with regards to your sim and when they call back. Im still waiting to hear about HR interview. If I have not heard after 2 weeks I will drop them a line.
