263tt + A320 TR. Are there jobs in Asia?
How many A320 type rated pilots with low hours are out there looking for jobs?
Are there many?
Or is everyone gone down the cheaper route and got a 737 TR?

Not only there are a lot of A320 low hour type rated and unemployed pilot, but there are also a lot of 737 low hour type rated and unemployed pilot. Not only low hour pilot, but also many experienced pilots with many hours on type, some of them even on both of them.

Well forget the ones with experience, they will walk into a job if they are willing to re-locate.
Asia is booming and they are crying out for experienced pilots.
I am trying to get down there with my TR and 263tt, and wondering are there many unemployed rated pilots there with no experience on type,
Or are these people finding jobs??

power.r: You can ignore Jerry Lee or whoever you want, but he is telling you the truth. I personally know like 40 ppl with A320 TR, experienced (1000-2000 tt), looking for a job, all over the world (including asia).

Given that there is usually a big pile of CV's (resumes) to wade through, anything that raises doubts isn't very likely to be put into the small pile for interview selection.
It might seem unfair, but you are better off having more than 500 hours on type, or none at all, rather than a small number that raises doubt. I appreciate that isn't particularly helpful in your case, but a point for general consumption.

My total time is 263 hours.
I have no hours on the A320.
So I will have 263TT with an A320 rating (0hours)
Isn't it better to have a TR than no type rating, as most airlines want you to pay for your own these days. It's definitely an advantage over the guy who doesnt have a TR. Wizz Air, AL etc. all state that it is an advantage!

I would like to share my opinion with you, for what its worth. I work in the training,(Type Rating) arena and from what I can see one the low cost airlines which uses your Type (A320) has been recruiting consistantly in the last year, but most of the boys and girls that they seem to recruit are people with Type and time on Type or via a third party selection company, and I think the magic number is 500 hours on Type. You might want to approach the Training Centre where you did your training and see if they can recommend you to an operator for an interview. I would also say to stay positive and keep looking.

Ok, I see. My employer has just taken on a few dozen A319/320/321 pilots. They fall into two groups. The first are cadets for whom they provide the type rating as a part of their continuation training. As a TRTO it gives them a total input in the advanced training phase of these low hour pilots. The second group are pilots with significant experience on type. That would likely be around a couple of years on line with an established operator. Somewhere in the 1500+ hours on type figure I would suggest.
At this level it is a difficult one I am afraid. Have you tried Wizz, etc?

I have tried Wizz Air and they have filled their needs for 2012, same as A Lingus.
500 seems to be the magic number all right, well maybe if I had the money it would be a different story, but I don't!

Try Indonesia , you can get a job over there . As far as other countries are concerned in Asia like India there are 800 type rated pilots with zero hrs on type and Expat first officers arent allowed in India but in Indonesia they hire expat first officers , but pay will be low but you can get a good number of hrs.

In a similar situation myself and I can tell you there are lots of others. Just seen 4 of my friends go to Atlasjet in Turkey and hand over €40K for 500 hrs on type so waiting it out for a few months to see how they get on. I'm not willing to sell my soul just yet but might have to in 6 months if no sunshine at the end of the tunnel.
Before anyone blasts me for mentioning P2F I hate to tell you but the old fashioned way is dead where I come from. There are no regional jobs and no instructor jobs either.
On another note I'm wary about doing the 500 hrs on type as I only have around 500 TT at the moment and feel like I would have a much better chance if I waited until I had 1000 TT, then did the 500 on type, bringing me to 1500 TT with 500 on type... where to get those missing 500 in between tho.., suggestions welcome!

Check out the threads on Lion Air/Eagle Jet and you might discover that Indonesian isn't as easy as you might expect.

There is a Summer recruit every year including this one, you don't need to be a genius or psychic to work that one out.
Lion air has orders for something like 300 737's, so I presume there will be ongoing recruitment there, and I don't know much about Eagle Jet only that it is no good to me if I want to build hours as they require JAA TR.
The lotto numbers are 4,17,24,28,31,12

I think Mutt is right, if you believe Mach 5
then you need to give yourself a shake.
Take it from me ive been trying several years to get a job again flying, several thousand hours PIC and jet time, type rated on a320 and still havent got anywhere. I call the HR departments every other month and never any vacancies come up. I called Batavia last week, and told busy with P2F and no other position available.
Indonesia , asia is tough as europe, but mention P2F and they'll quote you a price.
