Flying in Europe

Hi,
My wife and I are contemplating a move back to Europe from Australia in the near future. I have just over 1600 TT, and have spent the last 2 years on the Q400. Licence-wise, I have an Ozzie CPL with all ATPL theory subject done, and MECIR.

I'm looking for info on what exams / flight tests I would have to do in order to be able to fly in the UK and the rest of Europe. At the moment we're thinking about moving back to the UK, or to Sweden.

Any info at all would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

First you want to obtain the ozzie ATPL seeing as though you most probably have the hours.

With your experience there is no reduction on theory exams for the JAR ATPL theory. You'll need to take all 14 ATPL exams.

Regarding the flying and providing you want the Q400 on the JAR licence, you'll need to do a Q400 Licensing Skill Test (LST) which is observed by a member of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Flight Ops Staff. If you do this you'll have a full JAR ATPL and not CPL- provided of course you have the various hours required for the licence.

G1.5 Is what you want to read, in particular Note 1.

Radio Operators licence.

If you have any more questions, let me know.

Prices?

Hello again,

Does anyone have any rough ideas on how much converting an Ozzie ATPL to a JAR once costs? Not including the textbooks or exam fees for the ATPL's, I mean for the flight test, flying training, etc?

I'd have to ask what the sim's going for. Budget a few hours on it. Flight Safety Farnborough has a Q400 sim. I have some mates there, I'll ask.
It's the CAA examiner that's expensive.

Definitely get the CASA ATPL done first.
