Cathay Pacific Cadet program
Hi everyone,
I put my name down for the second officer course back in May, but have heard nothing back since. Have sent a few emails to the company asking them what the hold up is and at first recieved response saying they were still processing it, but lately have heard nothing. Anyone else having the same problem ?

If they ever call you back it'll take a long time. They've got a lot of applications to check, and if you go in the right section of this forum you will read about people who got a call even after more than a year when they applied.

i dont mean to be a pain and this has probably come up before, but does anyone know any website that tells you about Cathay pacific fleet including what engines they use for different models ie manufacturer and the amounts of thrust they produce.
I know i can find out how much thrust stuff it uses after i know which engines are used.
thanking you in advance,

The Cathay website tells you more or less most information about its fleet. www.cathaypacific.com click on "whats on board" on the left hand side, and then "our fleet" it should all be there.

Did you have your interview in the UK?
I applied in June last year and haven't heard anything since! When I contacted them a few weeks ago they told me that my application is still under consideration and that I would be contacted for an interview next time they are in the UK...

Hi All,
You will be better off looking at the fragrant harbour wannabes section down the bottom of the main board. Be warned about silly posts though!
Just for some info - I applied in October 09 - invited for a interview in London (phone call Dec 09, interview Feb 10) - I didn't get through to the second round, but the interviewer did call me about a week after to explain exactly why (as I was only in 2nd year of university and they would want me to start that May).
In my experience everything went really quickly - though maybe I was lucky and my application stood out.

Blusky,
Tell your friend that if he accepts the job he is nuts. 5 to 7 years as an SO on crap money and never getting to fly the plane? Stay where he is and in another year or so he will be up for command. If he wants to get screwed he can go to Hong Kong Airlines (they don't charge for endo's). At least he can leave after a year or two with some good jet time. At least HKA don't pretend they are doing you a favour.
If your wondering, three of my friends are flying for Cathay under the Cadet Scheme and all are now realising that other avenues may have been a better option. If you have no flying experience and get them to pay for your CPL then its ok but if you have already spent $$$$ on getting your licence then it doesn't stack up money wise.
