QANTAS Cadetships
My topic of interest is the Qantas Cadetships currently being offered. I am an aviation degree student thinking about the cadetship as a way to advance into the 'big league'.
My area of interest is about the 'commercial cadet' category of application (Applying with a CPL) - Would this be recommended? (I have heard rumours that Qantas would prefer to train up pilots from scratch) does anyone have any comments on this topic?
Qantas have also said that the 2002 cadetship will train cadets, and then they will be placed into a GA company for a year or so before being given a job at Qantas officially. Does anyone know what sort of companies have been earmarked for this task? More importantly will it be IFR flying (most appreciated) or just any old VFR GA job.
Then I have to ask, was the cadetship introduced to help get employees sons and daughters into the company through the back gate? - I have heard rumours that Qantas has had a cadetship going since 1991 (Although they clearly stated on their website till 2000 that they didn't).
I would love to hear anyone’s view on the topic

Just remember its not a guarantee…. Plus I hear it “helps” if a close relative is a pilot already established in the company.
Don’t forget to take a jar of Vaseline into the interview. Good luck with it.

Easy tiger,
Don't believe everything you hear. The idea that a QF Captain's son is automatically assured a cadetship are long gone.....
There's a lot more transparency within the airline today than a decade ago.
