Experienced Ground Instructors?

Where are all the experienced Ground Instructors? These days it seems that ground instructors either have little prectical flight experience or they are ex Air Force Navigators - great have beens but pretty useless for modern civilian aviation. I ran into a school who tries to find someone with experience but they have no luck. Mind you, they are in New Zealand. Do all flight crew no work to 65 and then go fishing?

hi Downburst....

A mate of mine has been looking around for a ground instructional position for some time, within the airline industry, with no luck as yet.

He's an ex PFE with lots of experience (not sure exactly how much) with about 25 years flying both in the air force and then various airlines all around.

The percentage of places only want pilot instructors, though IMHO he's significantly more experienced than most, and understands systems operation infinitely better than 95% of those doing the job.

I'm talking ground instruction here, not flight instruction.

Seems most places don't 'need' qualified, experienced people...their usual response is that they want someone that can do both.

Again, IMHO that's the definition of a retired PFE with a private pilots license!

I'm currently teaching ground school in Algeria even though I'm on my hoolidays back in the UK, I did'nt need any further qualifications to do so. However I do have a aeronautical engineering degree and the standard JAA fATPL.

I am interested in doing more work in this area, so if you hear of anyone who requires any private tuition or a tutor please PM me.
