Hi Guys,
Just wondering whether there are any ATR type rated guys out there,no hours on type/cant get a job,usual problem less than 500 hours,no one is interested.Be good to hear from you.

This is problem for the whole industry,a type rating with no experience in a jobs market like the one with have just been through,basically no chance of employment,airlines and agencies need pilots with experience and 250-500 hours would at least afford some kind of interest from the recruiters.
Unfortunately pre recession and during this recessionary period many young pilots trained wearing rose tinted glasses expecting a job immediately upon completion of a first type on thier licence.Although the market is improving it will take 12-18 months I feel before things are boyant enough to take guys with zero hours on type.
If I had a rating and no hours I would seriously consider a further investment to get 3-6 months experience flying the type of aircraft that you had qualifications on at least then the agencies would show interest and this would quicken the process to become employed,hopefully the market improves further and you guys become employed.

I do not have an ATR rating (or any other rating for that matter) but I will tell you about the guy who did his MEIR with me. We both finished IR in April 2008, just as the recession was biting deep (great timing). My friend paid for an ATR 42/72 rating with SkyBlue in Exeter with zero hours line flying and he has kept the rating current but has not flown any hours on the ATR except for some safety pilot work.
It has taken him over 2 years but he has just been offered a contract by Phoenix Aircraft Leasing flying an ATR 72 but the contract is flying in Bangladesh so he is having to live and work away from his wife (at least they don't have kids). Because he had no hours on type and low total time he needed dispensation from the Bangladesh authorities which they gave him (I think Phoenix sorted all that out).
The fact is that with no time on type he will be flying passengers on the ATR 72 in a few weeks time.
WHile these opportunities are precious few they are available, if you want to pay to fly for some hours I believe that Farnair in Switzerland will do that for you on their Freight ATRs.

It might be worth sending an email to Aurigny. The "problem" they have (which is caused by their own recruitment policy of not really supporting local talent enough) is that a lot of their pilots are on 3-5 year housing licences, you never know, you might get lucky and coincide with a time when one of their FO's is nearing the end of his/her housing licence.
If you have an ATR type rating that is normally enough to get through the paper sift stage and you might get a call.
They do take on guys and girls with low hours, but you must already have the type rating.
