Thanks, from what I understand this is what it amounts to. I welcome anyone to point out inacuracies in my observation as it appears to be, in my opinion, an awfully dreadful 'scheme'...

Firstly congratulations if this is what you want to do

I understand it's one of the few schemes out there but who benefits?? I can't imagine Atlantic being a career airline like Cathay, BA etc. These big players were the ones who historically provided (fully sponsored) Cadetships. Why you ask?? Because they could mould a Pilot that would be a lifer and would see a return on their investment.

Smaller operations like Atlantic are historically focused on cash flow and shorter term goals. It is hugely beneficial to have a continious flow of 'slaves' for your 24hr charter business, not alone that but guys paid minimum wage who eventually pay for their own training anyway!!!!!!!!

All I can say is congratulations to whoever is managing the place, there will never be a shortage of wide eyed and bushy tailed guys looking for a short term fix to a long term career!!

I can't imagine many Cadets staying long enough after training to get into the left seat when the allure of 'hot hosties' beckons..

Also...I'm curious to hear about the illusive good publicity that poor unspoiled kids are so vocal about??

While I am all for having hot babes around dirty old cargo planes are not going to be around for ever. In a dozen or so years everyone will be flying computers and pushing buttons. Autoland, fancy electronics and dials are so very cool but do you not think after 30 odd years of doing this you are going to get a tad bored. Hands on flying is surely what every pilot wants? Jet pilot I question whether your motives for flying will enable you to be fulfilled in a few years. These planes are a dying bread and I would consider it a privilage to fly them while we still can.

Side note...this is just my opinion and im not talking from experience. As of today im still to make the leap from GA

Two new cadets got selected to join Atlantic and as far as I'm aware, he isn't one of them.

I'm really interested in this scheme as I cant afford the cost of doing a CPL and IR.
Does anyone know if they will recruit soon?
Are there any open days or chats about the scheme for the public to attend?

Whiteandblackcow I think AA have 2 intakes a year so I would guess the next selection will be in about 6 months. I saw some of the guys from AA at the flyers convention at heathrow a few weeks back so might be worth checking when the next one is on. Good luck!
