I've already checked with the INAC (Portuguese CAA). Although the countries are part of JAA/EASA, there are some differences between the countries. For example you can't fly a Portuguese registered aircraft with the engine "on condition" but UK and German aircraft you can.

IR current / uncurrent; it matters not; because it aint nearly enough.
A Type Rating with lots of hours on type; or Paying a Dowry to MOL (or similar) is the only way.
If you want to wear some gold bars it's going to cost a few quid over and above the FTO fees and a trip in an FNPT2. Rightly so.
