CTC ATP scheme & SSTR?

If you go through the CTC ATP scheme or pay for a SSTR through CTC.

Do you get put into Flexi crew if you complete either of these paths and does anyone have a best guess at how big the hold pools are or how long the wait is?

Just trying to get an idea out of interest regarding these CTC scheme's.

Most people fresh out of CTC dont walk straight into an airline. I think many start from the bottom flying single engine pistons again, then moving to twin pistons while they build up hours. I think some go into instructing aswell.

ShaunLanc

Where did you get that info from??

Until 18 month ago most people have gone strainght to the airlines and since then most people have either gone to the hold pool full time of had flexi crew work and then back to the hold pool.

I believe what you have posted above is incorrect although maybe this will start to occur in the future if some cadets decide to do other forms of avaition while they wait in the pool for a placement.

ATP guys are maybe already instructing or completing other flying activities as they have not trained Ab-Initio with CTC.

ShaunLanc,

That info is not quite right. Kwb911 is correct.

Very few cadets have got other forms of flying jobs, largely because it is very hard to find any flying job at all. I'm sure a handful have become FIs and I even did some glider towing myself (but unpaid), but for the vast majority it's a job at tescos or whatever if they've not got some periodic flexicrew work.

I'm sure many in the holdpool wouldn't turn their nose up at such flying but it's just so hard to find anything, like Kash360 showed us with his trip to Maun (good luck btw Kash, u deserve to succeed).

Hi Shaun,

I have read the thread in the past and also skimmed over it as and when new posts have arrived.

I know a little about CTC and the selection process as I have been through it in the past (the selection not the training) and I am also aware of the state of the industry and what has been happening to CTC cadets in recent times. I have a friend that has been through the scheme several years ago and is doing very well and I also speak to a few cadets in the hold pool at the moment that are not so lucky.

I agree cadets might start looking for other work due to the large hold pool and delays and also the new deal introduced with the easyJet type rating, however, at the moment it is not common for CTC cadets to start back on SEP, then single pilot IFR, TP etc. I didn't notice any reference to this in the CTC cadet thread as you mentioned.

As already posted due to the state of the industry maybe cadets will decide to look at this route, however try to keep the info on the thread correct as there is a lot of rubbish posted on here which does not help.

If you ask a genuine question cadets will reply with an honest answer (maybe PM as some don't want to rock the boat when they are in the hold pool) and admit things have not turned out as planned.

Hope this helps

I only posted to try and help out not get into an arguement about who is wrong and who is right. I have very little knowledge of the industry and go on what i read here. Obviously im wrong, i dont have the time to be proving a point so i'll leave it at that.

Hi ShaunLanc,

Don’t take my post the wrong way it was not meant in that way at all. It’s a public forum and we can all put forward our own views and you have made yours from info available on the CTC thread.

As you have probably guessed there are a lot of personal views on the thread and some of the info is slightly biased or rumours but that’s the idea of the forum!

The info I have added is from my own limited involvement with CTC and people I know on the course.
