YYZ Instructor,

Is the fax number on ppjn the latest one or has it changed, thinking of faxing off my CV to them. Nothing ventured.

I would advise you to buy some nice paper, print your CV off and send it in an A4 envelope with the correct stamp on it.
This will say far more about you than if you send it by FAX which may be hard to read. Make sure you address it to whoever is in charge of recruitment. If you don't know, call them and ask.

How is the lifestyle for the DHC-6 crew longterm?

Hi there to those of you at Logan Air! Just thought I'd make some enquiries...
Firstly, I'm keen to settle into a good challenging, IFR job in Europe and I feel that Logan Air might present a good starting point if not a good proposition for a longer term option.
Secondly, do you have crew flying both types at the moment?
Thirdly, if you were to be based in any city up they way, what would be your preference and why?
I like Edinburgh personally, but the surf on the west coast is best from what I hear!
Anyhow, I'm just finishing my JAA ATPL subjects this comming week and should be flying again in the land of Feta and Olives by the end of this month. It's a long process as I'm sure you all know but I'm now keen to seek a long term prospect in UK/EU that has a good balance. I'm definately not into big airports...
Anyhow if there are any guys or girls up there in Logan Air land who can give some general advice about the situation it would be greatly apreciated right now.

Auch aye the noo neebur. Ken there is plenty a challenge nae gan a wanten up here in Bonnie Scotland. We awe fly in skirts and chase a wee haggis aboot the airfield when the leccie is aff an the runway lights are oooot!

Sorry, on a serious note I know a few guys who fly for Loganair out of both Glasgow and Edinburgh on the SF340 and love it. Glasgow is their main base where the majority of the fleet is stationed. I believe more senior, experienced crew within the airline are dual rated on the Saab and the DHC-6. As for Scotland, I have lived up this way for nearly nine years and think a lot of it. Would definetely recommend it.

Cool

hi FloatJockey,

better surf nearer to the east coast bases man!

dunbar is not too far from edinburger which i hear is ok, and aberdeen itself has some nice clean breaks on a regular basis and is not too far from the surf city which is the home of legends!

the most glasgow gets is a few ripples on the clyde when the banana boat gangs doon i' water.

some of the west coast islands have a few spots to hang off your stick but miles from any loganair bases!

l8r dude!

Many thanks! Loganair Loganair Loganair! I got it now!

Thanks for that I feel much better all of a sudden! I'm used to being hacked down to size in other parts! My current employer has a very similar double-barreled name, AirSea Lines and if any of you have heard of this mob then well done! They've done very well at keeping this operation under wraps for some time!!
I've surfed off Peas Bay, in February a few years ago, coldest water I've ever voluntarily entered and I must admit it wasn't too bad! So if that's the worst of it then I could definately try again!
But seriously, I still have my Grandfathers Pipes and Kilt! So the desire to see it all with my own eyes is very appealing!
Anyhow further research is needed and a phone call or two is next. Hope to see some of you soon...

You should try Newquay. Twotters to fly as well apparently, from what I hear.

I've just entered myself on their database. Does anyone have a handle on Loganair's current situation? What's is the expected need for pilots over the next 6 months? Are they growing? What is the turnover of a pilots like?

Perhaps you could find out GM? Good luck!

I don't think their online database/application is worth bothering about. I was told they don't recruit from it and rarely look at it unless they're short of type rated/experienced pilots.

Online Database

You are wasting your time with this if you are low houred. Loganair seem only interested in people that come recommended to them, either by a senior employee of the company, someone who is in close contact with recruitment or from an integrated school.

Sorry to burst your bubble, however I have been told this on many occassions by those 'in the know' so to speak

we had a talk from their chief pilot and he says he prefers hand written applications - CV covering letter as its more personal.

I am realy interested in the type of flying and would LOVE to fly for them so i am going to apply my socks off in september when we graduate

merry christmas all

If your a non Scot, young, have no previous job experience or proven track background, have no flying experience, have no intention of staying in Scotland, then you've probably got a great chance!!

I mean no experience as in no 'practical' experience of flying in Scotland. If you've been a modular chap/chapess who's spent a number of years and several hundred hours flying around Scotland then forget it. If you've come from some integrated background then ironically you'll be just what theyre looking for!

Depends when you heard this. There was a change in the recruiting team around October and the online application process is now being taken more seriously. Yes, recruiting, particularly DE captains. Not many leaving as it's a good place to work and indeed at least two Captains have recently resigned from jet operators to come back, plus more on a winter break from TC. Money not as good as jets but flying as good as it gets this side of real aircraft (i.e. GA) and good lifestyle. I know which I prefer .MikeCR, things may change there as well. New DFO as from last week. Who knows, he may even prefer local instructors .
