Are the CAE students really preferred @RYR or not? Or is it still a mix from CAE, other schools and modular student?

My background: modular course, 1 failed atpl-subject and no previous exp in 737. I did my assessment last december and got through!

And yes they ask you to bring your atpl-results to the interview.. I think though the cadet-door is closing after April 2013 and there will be no assessments until further notice after that date..

How many days passed before they gave you the result of your assessment?

@ Jetpipe

Forgive my ignorance of the subject, but does "I got through" mean you are then offered a place on a TR course and a contract, or just that you passed the sim and MAY be offered a place...?!

Ryan Air Interview

I will soon be applying for a position for flight crew with Ryan Air, I will be doing some time on the 737-800 sim to get aquanted with the cockpit and am studying a book that contains over 1000 technical questions that could be asked.

If anyone would have any idea of the type of questions asked during Ryan Air Interviews it would be a great help. Is there any particular area that they ask questions about?

Any info would be brilliant.

Yes it is true, some of TR courses have been already cancelled... don't know what happened to these cadets. Anyway, in your contract for type-rating there is nothing to bond RYR to give you job, it is only TR contract.

FO's are leaving RYR with lower rate than was expected = no need for recruitment.

RYR is actually highly overcrewed (FOs), on some bases pilots have around 40 hours per month + worse Storm contract = very low salary. Every contractor has 1 month off per year unpaid ...

TR + additional costs (uniform, IDs, living costs for 6 months, commuting, etc.) = EUR 40.000 ...so be ready for that and have big financial reserves!!! You will have to pay for your line training (166 sectors) from your salary and salary is being paid when safety pilot is released, after approx. 2 months after License skill test at the end of typerating (depends on base).

Everyone should have Irish CPL licence before the end of the typerating. JAA licence conversion costs EUR 380 and TR endorsement costs EUR 260. Check IAA website.

Most of the smaller, southern and newer bases are on 5/3 roster during summer, so commuting home is sometimes difficult (routes are not operated daily) and during winter, half of the routes is not operated at all (seasonal), so you need to pay for air tickets with different company or go by car.

Be ready to undergo 5 and 10 years criminal and employment/study history check with no unconfirmed gaps. Verified by external company (..and paid by the pilot of course )

Hope it 's helpful..

What he is saying isn't true, so it hasen't changed that much i reckon. In the contract it states a minimum of 66 sectors linetraining, and you certainly don't pay for it, you get payed. You only start to get payed after safety release, but that like you said, only takes a few days.

- And btw, about the cancelled courses, it's future planned courses, not current ones, so it hasen't affected current cadets, only the career of those who plan on joining Ryanair in a couple of months!

It is true, your are paying for line-training EUR20/sbh deducted from your salary, it is stated in the contract. And yes, sorry for the mistake with (1)66 sectors, it's minimum, average is around 90-100 sectors.

Where exactly have you two heard that FR will freeze cadets in April? I can't find a reference to it online.
Is it a rumor or confirmed? Do you mean that CAE / Interviews will stop in April or no new TR course after April?
Why are they still doing assessments if TR courses have been cancelled?

In some bases FO are flying 20-25 hrs.
Apparently the cadet intake for 2013 will be less than half of 2012, and no more applications from April 2013...

For the safety pilot release it depends...minimum is 12 sectors, what I heard is because FO are flying so few hrs some ltc tend to release cadets a bit later in order to give the opportunity of earning something to the local FO's doing safety pilot.
that's a rumor!
