I've always wondered how the screening process of all CV works. Have sent mine 2 years ago an never received any reply. Some friends have been called after 3 months, some others after 1 year, some, again, after just 1 week. All with the exact same level of experience. Does anyone involved knows exactly the mind behind the desk ??

Things are not what they were 2 or 3 years ago chaps. We are getting no more aircraft now.

You really think you will be getting enough hours to pay bills if you join now?

Things change by the day in FR. Its currently kicking off in Italy with the taxman. Whats the plan when FR send you to Bergamo because all the other FO's fled?

You think Brookfield wont start dumping Fo's at the drop of a hat? its already started with regards to peoples contracts expiring.

Nearly 4 years in the company now and ive never seen morale so low. Please ask yourselves why this might be?

Interesting cowhorse - any cadets willing to sell me one of their kidneys? after a brief interview and medical tests, i am offering a chance to sell one of your kidneys to me (you will need to pay for hospitilisation and costs for operation), you will need to pay for drugs and anesthetics etc. and operation gowns, and travel expenses are to be paid for by suitably qualified cadets. I can offer a very good return on your kidney, approx 1500 Euros. We would consider your brain also, but at this time we consider that most cadets have already had these removed fully or partially prior to operation.

@Youngaviatior254

It takes about a week to get a further response from CAE after they send your CV to RYR. If successful you will get an email in which they tell you to stay nearby your mobile phone and wait for the call the same day.

That's what happened to me.

Ryanair reality?

Anyone who actually works for Ryanair prepared to state the truth of the current situaion for a new Cadet joining?

EG : Brookfield contract length and the likelyhood of that contract expiring/being terminated?

First base choice likelyhood? If not, where most likely?

Hours flown in first Year (new Cadet)

Take Home pay first Year?

Here's the truth from a current FO;

Brookfield contract length is 5 years. Although that effectively means bugger all as they could just half my pay next week and tell me to sign a new contract or leave.

Recently a group of FOs didn't get their contracts renewed. Although I understand some maybe all finally got a renewal albeit on a far far worse contract and signed up to the abhorrent Irish accountant scheme.

First base likelihood? Having a laugh arnt ya?
They will put you wherever it suits them and completely on their terms. New bases possibly in Croatia. Lots of talk of morocco bases as well, it would seem that the recent timetable changes indicate this as well. Of course these will be 5/3 bases so don't expect to be getting more than one day at home if you choose to commute from April till November.

Hours on the first year, I would budget on 600 max! Just as I stated earlier guys theres no more aircraft arriving. For ever new person that arrives they are diluting everyone else's hours, of course there's quite a few leaving but nothing on the scale of people arriving; hence the dilution.
Remember that you cost the company nothing to be sat on your arse in the middle of Europe. It's in their operational interest to be overcrewed.

Please don't expect to receive much sympathy from your colleagues when you arrive.

Skyhigh 86,

Thanks for the information, its appreciated.

The bit I don't like one bit is this....

So with the 5/3 you mean that Day 6 is travelling Home and Day 8 is travelling back to the Base right?

Yep

Typically if you are on Earlies and in a base with ok connections a lot of people do their day 5 early shift and then jumpseat home that day. Tiring to say the least! That way you might get two days at home(1 and 2 off), your last day off being spent travelling back to base.

if you are finishing Lates, you have very little choice but to jumpseat back on day 1 off and then back again on day 3 off.

It can take more than one day to jumpseat home for some people, hence making it practically impossible for people to get home. Don't kid yourself for a minute that you will be getting back to the uk anytime soon. I know guys with over 3 years in the company and still no sniff of getting back home.

the situation is very bad
at the moment a cadet can expect to fly 20 - 40 hours per month in the winter and 50 - 60 in the summer that makes under 24.000 € gross the first year . (50 € for 1 hour block) 17.000€ (1.416 € per month) net with no pension no holyday pay no sick pay. Since you will be probably be away from home you will have to pay the accomodation to stay there for standby duties.
At the moment some accountants let you deduct from the taxes the type rating so you can take the gross income as net for the first year .

Don't consider Ryanair as a work but just an hobby were you will spend money

the base is their choice but you can ask for one .
Brookfield doesn't give you a contract , it's more like a one-way guideline

on top of that ryanair crews are now pursue personally by tax men

Could not agree more Skyhigh, looks like there's a lot of head in sand here.
Speaking of sand, I worked in Morocco for a few years, if you get a base there.....good luck, you will need it

Make that 3 current pilots.

Would be interesting for you guys starting type ratings how you are justifying joining? No more a/c's and we are overstaffed as it is for FO's?

Seems like madness to me. As well as the prospect of paying double taxes now as well.

Hello!

I have a question:

If you pass all ATPL subjects at first time except one, which you passed at second time, with an average of 90%.

What are the effects of passing one subject at the second time? Is it a eliminatory criteria for ryanair?

I appreciate your help!

Thanks a lot
