Just learn the speeds and power settings (although in the sim you may need a couple of % more as it is a bit draggier) and you'll be fine. Though if your not in current flying practice I'd try to grab some time in a sim of some sort, even if its a clockwork FNPT type, to work on your scan as it can all go wrong very quickly if you get behind the aircraft. The profile is exactly as it is in the text in the briefing pack, and they went through it again in the classroom before I did the actual sim detail so you are left in no doubt as what is required. Engine failure is a bit of a pain if your used to piston/turboprop twins as very little rudder is needed to combat the yaw produced, the rudder is damm effective and you can very easily roll it all the way over inverted if you give it a boot full..... so squeeze her gently

Thanks for the info. I've phoned around a few places but there isn't an Embraer sim available in the UK. I'm going to try and get some time on a B737 instead, it must be better than nothing!
I assume that you got through the sim check, so congratulations. Do you know when you start or where you'll be based?

Strongly advise you to get the Embraer add on for Flight Sim 2004. Then set the aircraft up with the correct weight and configuration for a take off at EGCC with the same winds fed in. Then save the flight so you don't have to keep wasting time setting it up. The real sim was easer to fly than Flight Sims version.
A 737 sim may do you more harm than good. I am glad I stuck with Flight Sim 2004.
PM me if you wish

You will also need the Embraer 145 Pilot In Command add on.
The key to success is PMA, Positive Mental Attitude and lots of preparation.
If you have that, you will pass.

I know they got 2 TR courses in Jan and 1 in Feb, but beyond that I have no idea im afraid. As far as time to interview from application, having spoke to others who have gone through the process it has varied from 1 week, to six weeks (for me) to someone who applied in February this year! They have been recruiting like mad over the last 2 or 3 months so by now they must have a load of new crews of all experiences in the system at various stages for their four new planes. Don't know how long they will be recruiting for so better get some applications in quick and hope its not to late.

yeah got through on a Jan course, but didn't have assesment on that date.
Agree with getting hold of the Feel There ERJ. Handling semi resembles the sim, but by far the best thing is getting use to scan with the Embraer style EFIS which I recon definitely helped me get through.

Current bmi regional fleet is 16 aircraft, between the recent expansion from 12 and the large numbers of FOs who have moved on to bigger aircraft lately we have an ongoing need for a large number of pilots, both FOs and Captains. Furthermore, we have a sporting chance of increasing to 21 aircraft during 2007- this corresponds to about 80 extra pilots since summer 2006, before any resignations are taken into account.
Prospects for command are excellent- as soon as you have the hours you can expect an assessment. These have become considerably harder over the last few years, but the company are good about giving another go as soon as possible- the training department are aware that the assessment is a 2-day snapshot, and everyone can have a bad couple of days.
I would say more, but my girlfriend has just demanded I take my clothes off. Happy New Year!

Hi
Does anyone know what is involved in a simulator assessment for type rated pilots applying to join as Captains?
Thanks for any advice.

Having been job searching for the past 9 months I have now secured an interview with BMI regional. Any ideas as to the questions asked? Any feed back would be appreciated.
