Question Ab initio

Hi all, was wondering if there were any current ab initio scheme rumours. I'm UK resident but would happily move abroad for the training...

Sorry for the confusion, I'll be clearer. I'm looking for an ab initio pilot training scheme (i.e. training from scratch, with no/minimal previous flying experience), either in the UK or abroad I'm 27 but most of the airlines have a 26 cut-off for these schemes. Airlines abroad usually take nationals only and won't accept UK residents (UAE for example). I can't find a good website that lists which (if any) airlines are taking on ab initio trainees, and whether they accept applications from UK residents...

your right, 26 is usally the max cutoff. It is unfortunate although being 18 you can say thats easy for me to say! your best bet is perhaps to try getting tax relief on the cost of training. I'm not sure if this is possible, try and accountant!

Ah well. If all fails there's the self-sponsorship route. Racking up £60k of debt wasn't how I envisaged starting my 30's however :o)

23% nvq tax exemption that use to be available on training was phased out in Aug 31 2002, maybe earlier, so no you can't offset the training costs against tax. Infact in the uk we are still charged VAT on flight training.

I stand corrected thanks for the update, I wasn't totally sure myself.
