BN Islander jobs

One or two positions advertised for islander pilots on Aviationjobsearch/flightinternational.
Any idea who they for me figure loganair, one is for a capt and specicfies 250 on type and 1000pic but the other just says rated BN2B pilots. Surely all operators of these are using 1 pilot and as its air taxi he/she must have the 700hrs etc etc therefore the same applies or is there anyone that does utilise the RHS. As for the rating is this for the turbine version or does it apply to the Piston version, can you fly the piston version alone on your MEP legally?

I know Logie were looking for an Islander Captain based in Glasgow, maybe its been filled but they often have vacancies anyway.

The other operator might be Hebridean Air Services?

The BN2A/B does not need a rating, you just need a Multi-engine class rating (MEP). A couple of hours on type and a LPC and you will be let loose.

The turbine Islander does have a rating as all turbine powered aircraft irrespective of weight requires a type rating.

Good luck, its a great aeroplane, but stay away from ice...

Its great for polling around though...

Loganair normally require 2000hrs tt, so my guess is that these
vacancies are for Isles of Scilly Skybus or Rockhopper.

All Islander operators are single pilot so the 700hr rule applies, but many operators have AOCs which impose additional hours requirements.

All piston Islanders (and Trilanders for that matter) can be flown on a MEP rating. You only need a type rating for the turbine variants; in this case I suspect that the requirement for a BN2 type rating is a misprint and that actually just want someone current and experienced on type.

Roll on 1000hrs tt so I can go for these jobs!

Logair currently require 3 Islander Captains for the Scotish Air Ambulance Contract and InterIsland services. Due to the nature of work they normally require 2000hrstt and 500hrs MESPIFR. The pay is good circa £36Kpa and a roster which gives you up to 11 days off per month. The really good thing is if you have your atpl passes perfA and MCC there is an excellent chance that you can move onto SAAB340's within a year.
