Overseas Direct Entry positions for US pilots?

Does anybody know if most Direct Entry programs (Cathay, British Airways, etc.) are open to U.S. citizens/pilots? Also, what are the qualifications before being considered for a Direct Entry position (number of flight hours, etc.)?

Not unless you have a stamp in your passport that says you have the right to work in the UK. Though I think you can get a position with Cathay Pacific without a work permit.
