Flight Instructor Renumeration

Does anybody know the earning potential of a full time flight instructor, not wanting to merely hour build prior to airline employment?

Thanks

You would probably get a better response on the Flying Instructor Forum.

PPL work maybe £10 a day retainer + £10 an hour airbourne.

IMC work with 1000 instructional hours then double that.

CPL IR work tending towards £20k to start with.

Not a good time to become an instructor - winter beckons and the numbers of newly minted FI's is well up on last year whilst business is slightly down.

Cheers

Most FTOs pay their instructors a small monthly basic and also flight pay.

During the winter when you are looking out of the flying club window at solid IMC a good deal of the time, youre not earning any flying pay.

In Scotland which has more than its fair share of low cloud, I was earning around £600 - £900 per month in winter and £900 - £1500 in summer.
