Did interview in May and Sim check in August. Profile was out of Birmingham on the Bae146, vectors round to an ILS on RW33 with Instructor giving advice, then same again without any help from Instructor. All very well briefed and left in no doubt about your role, standard calls etc...

Hi,

Don't worry if you don't find out straight away, I waited about three weeks to find out. I don't think they are in a rush at the moment, think they are filling the 'pool'.

Hi there,

I've just revived this thread while searching for up to date info regarding the flybe sim check. Has anyone done this lately? If so what profile were you given? Any tips?

Thanks in anticipation.

Tri.

I was there recently and it was pretty much as described here

Take off straight ahead from Birmingham, level off, track to or from a VOR, then vectors for an ILS, then the same again, but simply take off and get vectored round for the ILS straight away. You then swap seats with your sim partner and do the same as PNF.

Cheers

I did my sim check back in Jan 2005 and it was pretty much the same as the guys are describing above.

The 146 is a nice sim to fly...just a little concentration needed.

Sorry for being a bit ignorant, but after you pass the interview, you also have to go for a sim ride?
Can they fail you on that? who is doing the sim ride? Flybe or the CAA?
Cheers

Yes, if successful at interview you are invited for a sim-ride.

Sim-rides are usually carried out by airlines or by TRTOs on an airline's behalf. CAA are not involved as it is not a formal "Skills Test". However, it is obviously a test of your skill as a pilot and a crew member. Different companies may have different emphasis on what they want to see on the sim-ride. You don't have to be perfect but you do have to be good enough to convince them that you will pass a TR course.

So if I understand well, they could fail you then.... How many people do fail?

Flybe Interview

Hello all,

I have a Flybe interview next month and was wondering what sort of questions they're likely to ask? I have heard they particularly like to ask technical questions about the Dash. Is this true? If so, what systems do they ask about?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Yes they can fail you. However an MCC instructor once gave me a good bit of advice for sim-rides: Relax, if they have called you for a sim ride after passing an interview, they obviously like you and therefore are not looking to fail you. It is really up to you to perform on the day.

I have no idea what percentage fail (or pass ).

Interviews are a fairly relaxed process (or at least they were!!!), with no more than 3 or 4 general ATPL theory type questions, usually something vaguely relevant to flying as opposed to the obscure questions posed by the JAA. Nothing specific to the Dash, more likely a general turboprop PofF question.

Brush up on weather and aerodynamics.

Sim check is a doddle, and I suspect only a very small percentage fail. Profile is usually climb straight ahead, level off, turn onto a heading, track into and away from a VOR, radar vectors to an ILS to land. All hand flown, all very simple - no nasty tricks or traps.
