Angel Story These Days with Sponsorships??

Hello Pilots

I know a few people have mentioned certain sponsorships scheme assessments rencently ie. Britannia, but can anyone throw the spotlight on what the score is generally for Sponsorship schemes. Are they currently running or what?
and what are the minimum requirements?
I remember seeing ages ago in "Flight International" magazine for one of the airlines (cant remember which one, the one with dark blue coloured planes! ) they wanted A levels/ B-Tec in science etc and a PPL(A) Licence with so many hours! Do you need a PPL? or are Just A Levels good enough? This particular airline was recruiting to the age of 31 too! might have changed since! oh yes, student had to stump up some dosh too! (damn!)
What about BA too? The used to take on 150+ 'cadets' each year or so, has this picked up?
As for Airtours, they would only pay 10K towards the course fees if selected! (stingy or what!)
EasyJet...whats this CTC scheme they are associated with?
Whats the story for Whos hiring and Whos not?

Thanks for any comments!

with reference to BA's sponsorship scheme, that is dead and gone. It is quite unlikely that it will return in the near future, but in a decade? who knows where aviation will be.

EasyJet are in league with the CTC McAlpine scheme. If selected its of to NZ to learn the tricks of the trade. Good side- you come out with a job (they do not let you enter the final stage of training without a 'sponsoring' airline) Bad Side- you come out of training with an £84,000 debt to the airline you work for and will be bonded to them for about 7yrs whilst paying this off.

If I'm wrong with this info, put me in my place

Hustler:

Suggest if your serious about a career in this industry you start doing some back ground research of your own. These forums are all well and good, but don't believe every thing you read here...
People do tell the truth (sometimes) but like a great game of chinese whispers things very often get contorted, missed out or even made up.

Top tips would be get reading aviation press (flight international, pilot, flyer etc...) bookmark and check websites regularly, send out letters asking the airlines..... they will reply and the worse they can tell you to do is go away and come back when you have x and y.

top advice would be get a ppl even if its only the NPPL, somthing is better than nothing. Get A levels, and if nothing still comes up think about a related degree subject e.g. aero engineering.

All the best.

According to the latest BALPA quarterly newsletter, Britannia intend to announce 4 new part sponsorships very soon , with advert in Flight to appear shortly.

Training will again be done at BAE Jerez.

Dozza

A little off the mark - the bond is £60K, you owe it to a bank and it's paid for by the airline over the 7 years if you are a good girl and stay with them.

all the details are here

It's worth doing a search on PPRuNe for more info about sponsorships. There are a couple of others about, e.g. Atlantic.

Loads of useful information and links on this website:

Useful information and stuff

Some of it useful and up to date, some of it not. Might take quite a while to get through.
