Aer Lingus currently have 35 furloughed pilots and with 6 146's retiring before the end of the year and only 2 a/c being brought in to replace them, that's an extra 48 pilots surplus (on top of the 35) that they'll have for the near future.

I would imagine the reason that Aer Lingus are there is that BAe Systems has asked them to be. Seem to remember that a lot of EI cadets spent some time in southern spain being entertained with stories about sheep....

So, BAe systems want to tell everyone in Ireland how great Jerez is and they ask their old friends at Aer Lingus to pop in and tell the young folk what a great job being a pilot is. BAe might pick up some trade off the back of this. Oxford's and Cranfield's FTOs use such tactics to entice prospective students

No reason I can think of to assume that EI are recruiting

I'm missing something too on the sheep reference, although Signeti, I recall some gentlemen who may not have turned down a sheep behind the hangers...

As for Aer Lingus recruiting? yeah, good one, everyones a comedian.
