Question BA CitiExpress

Anyone know the latest on recruitment? I read on another thread about BA that RJ pilots are moving back to mainline yet another mentioning BACE pilots are to be seconded to Air Southwest.

Anyone in the know?

I wasn't aware CitiExpress were recruiting at all. Apparently 40 odd pilots are working their notice in Manchester to go to EasyJet etc. This I suspect will be treated as natural wasteage by the company and they will be glad to reduce salaries out of the 600 or so pilots employed by them at the moment. Turboprops are disappearing in favour of Emb145s and many turboprop routes have disappeared altogether, if not "donated" to other carriers such as Eastern. Turboprop pilots have been invited in some instances to join other companies, if there are no places on the jet fleets for them.

Sorry if this does not sound like promising news, perhaps someone can correct me about non-recruitment, but I have lost all confidence in CitiExpress as my employers and am starting to look elsewhere for work.

Good luck anyway and I hope you can find an airline with a good state of morale in the workforce; it certainly ain't in BA CitiExpress!

Exclamation air southwest + BA RJ pilots

HI I think I might have the info u need on this one.

o.k as u may know BA are closing some of their regional routes, some of which air southwest are replacing, flying 2 dash 8's. They are currently recruiting but u need at least 1000 multi hours!

Now for the bit on the RJ pilots. My friends dad used to be a 737 captain and they downgraded him to RJ's, this happened to a load of people, and they are not going back any time soon I am afraid! To add to this a lot of jumbo pilots are now on 737's, so it will take a long time until they are going to think about recruiting pilots. To add to are depression as rookie pilots BA are now losing money and are unlikely to be offering any type of sponsorship anytime soon! BA citiexpress in my opnion are on the way out, I work at bristol airport on ground crew and the low budgets are walking all over them! and with ryanair paying their first officers £70000 this is the way to go I believe!

Cheers

Thanks for the replies people. Unfortunately not exactly what I would have liked to hear!

Flyboy thanks for clearing up the RJ & Air SW query. I wasn't too optimistic about BACE just excited about a base in the SW. Guess I should focus elsewhere....

I wouldn't go so far as to say the low costs are walking all over BACE. Just look at the loads. It would appear that there is a bit of a reversal going on. And certain low costs at BRS are not exactly showing sparkling results either. It all depends who you speak to I guess.
As for morale, yep, that could be better.
NP.

Just to clarify Flyboys bit - CitiExpress don't actually have 737s or Jumbos.

Now I am afraid that the bad enws is BACX won't be recruiting any pilots in the near future. Rumpurs of redundancy still frequent the crewrooms.

What happened was that just over a year ago CX were under the impression that BA mainline were going to give them their BAR business and the RJ 100s to operate the routes. CX then recruited a group of Turbo pilots to swell the ranks so they could then transfer the more senior guys (and gals) to the jets. Then BA, under pressure from their BALPA CC, decided that they were going to be providing 60 ish of the pilots too. At the same time BA decided to shed a lot of bases and bin all the TPs (Although since discovered that Dash8s make money so despite the image are being kept on). Get the picture - lots of pilots, not so many planes. What is happening now is that a lot of the pilots displaced from other bases or career progression have left. Not enough however to even the plane / pilot ratio.

Hope that clears it up. Watch this space though. There are a lot of pilots at CX who are not particularly happy and come the revolution will be off asap. Should be some good oportunities then.

Angel

Well I think that RB was considering buying the Concorde and making a Virgin sub firm called the 53rd parallel to cover the Scottish Routes.

I also hear that Concorde type ratings are going cheap at the moment cos all the AF & BA guys are leaving for 777s

So I'm going to go and do a concorde rating on the off chance whos with me
