Airfield recommendation Marseille aerea

Hello,

I´m planning a ferry flight through France, and I want to request some recommendations to choose the correct Arfields (I want to avoid big airports due to the security controls, bloodsucker handlings, etc.).

Iniatially I planned a stop at LFMA (Les Milles)to refuel and then continue the flight through the south coast to pass to Italy. It seems right with the Jeppview, but I don´t if it is the best option (this aerea is full of airfields). The kind of things that can destroy a perfect day of flight.

I´m completely open to your suggestions and I would appreciate them.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I will come from Girona, Spain and flollowing the coast line. Then the coast line again to Foligno in Italy.

The plane will be a PZL104 Wilga2000, and I don't need a long RWY at all.

I would appreciate your help.

I don't know what your endurance is, but the couple times I did LEGE to Italy I stopped at Cannes (LFMD). However, I would suggest you go to Fayence (LFMF) instead, if you can fly for an extra 35m (~2.5hr from LEGE). It's mostly a gliding site, nice and friendly, plenty of parking space, fuel available, a good resto on site, and accommodation in town within walking distance (although I just camped under the wing).

Out of interest, are you or the aircraft based in Girona? And when are you planning to do the ferrying? If flying alone and want some company I'll be happy to tag along

Hi,

Finally the first leg of the trip will start al LEVC (Valencia), and with the endurance of the Wilga 2000 (5,5 hrs and 100 Kts of cruise speed), Fayence and Cannes are a little far and I don´t want to extend the flight (I want to maintain 1 hour of remaining fuel because I will be in a unknow area for me).

I´m taking into account Le Castellet (LFMQ) and Les Milles (LFMQ). This stop will be only for fuel and flight plan.

Thank you very much for your help.

In that case, LFMQ or LFMA (or even LFTF) are probably right, although I've never visited any of them, but everything else in the immediate vicinity is either big and commercial, military, or otherwise restricted (e.g., La Mole).

If I might suggest though, I would still make a quick stop in Fayence or Cannes to top up your fuel before you venture into Italy. Double check AVGAS availability for your planned stops in Italy, and try to land with at least a 1.5hr reserve in case the supposedly available fuel has vanished by the time you get there. The price will also be a lot steeper (more than twice what you pay in Spain), hence my comment about topping up as close to Italy as you can.

Btw, for flight planning in France you can use the OLIVIA terminals which will also give you the relevant NOTAMs and weather for your route (also accessible online at OLIVIA), or do it by phoning the region's BRIA (bureau régional d'information aéronautique). They are most helpful and will also assist if you are stuck in a foreign third-world country (such as Austria, in my experience ).

Hope this helps.
