Emerald had 4 tech aircraft last night and a DC3 did some mail flight for the Royal mail ! Better be carefull lads we might lose the mail contracts !! DOH!
On a more positive note 2 new 748 f/o s have started recently so things MUST be looking up !?:ok: Anyone heard of their ATP course ? |
A DC3? Well, I guess that is in keeping with the vintage aircraft theme. :D
Yeah, there's 2 Shed FO's starting too. (Well, one's started already, he's only on £7K per annum till he's checked to line). Apparently there's a TRTO course running soon on the Shed. Happy days, happy days. ATP course? nah....... |
If we loose any more staff then Mr Charisma will be answering the phones himself and loading the a/c, or will we still have to do that?
|
I heard that the ATPs were arriving and Emerald were going into the passanger market. BA were replacing them with barbie jets on some of the routes and Emerald were taking over the rest and a few new ones.
And that is supposed to kick off in january. But then again I decoded this from a some smoke signals I saw over Wales the other day.....so you never know. |
Supposed to be true, although the route will probably be IOM four times a day.
And if its true that some of the ATP's are coming from Bangladesh, then they may already have some passengers on board!;) |
I see emerald are advertising for a tre on the atp in flight this week.
|
I thought the ATP already had some freighter variants, the project is a fair way on from being just on paper. West Air Sweeden displayed their cargo ATP at Farnborough last year with the rear cargo door that takes the ULD's... I could however be horribly wrong!

Good to see MOB hasn't changed, still as polite as ever then.
I thought the last time EA were gonna get ATPs it was binned cos the floors had to be strengthened as well as the door and it was gonna cost more than 2p. Believe it when we see it .....:D |
So when are these ATP's scheduled to arrive? And are they going to be containerised for freight work or flying pax? :)

Hi everyone,
With all this talk of more a/c and a shortage of crew, how do i get myself a sniff of the action??? I only live 10 mins from LPL, and must have sent 3 CV's into Emerald over the last 10 months and ................. nothing??? What do I have to do?? Any ideas (serious) would be welcome ta!!! w-s:confused: |
Well, Flight International had an add for a few folk recently. Namely flight ops manager, cabin services manager, TRE/TRI for the Bae ATP and a maintenance controller....
To fly for them you need an endorsement on the Shed or the Budgie. Or be prepared to buy one. The Shed fleet has recently taken on 2 FO's at Coventry. |
Well they might as well keep the ad running because any one who accepts an offer of a job will quit before the ink on their contract dries. Did the ad say "Must be able to be humiliated in front of work colleagues and bullied by senior management"????When will the Company learn?
|
a right shower of **** if ever there was one
|
Fred Shed can I just ask you something - if Emerald is such a bad company why do you still work for them?
Why don't you just resign and take up one of the numerous offers no doubt you have, from one of the list of airlines who are knocking at your door desperately trying to get your signature on a contract. Furthermore why not take the pilots with a similar view point with you so that the pilots who enjoy working for this company can further there careers. Oh and dada the intelligence of your reply astounds me! |
Well,
at least the roster has finally settled down which is nice. So far, no sign of redundancies. Yet. |
Anyone other than me notice this strange anomaly in the world of professional flying ??
Our whole professional pilot population appears ( at least from these pages and crew room chat generally ) to be split into 2 groups... Group 1... Desperate wannabees... Applying huge effort...years of their time, tens of thousands of pounds, months of studying ....heartache, uncertainty... family pressures... And this is only the beginning ... having got the licence they continue on ... Dozens of letters... interviews...scouring the web sites and aviation mags for any sight of an opportunity to get into a cockpit...any cockpit...flying for food in the worlds worst cesspits...in some cases even at their own expence if necessary.. Then the transition takes place....a metamorphasis. The crawling caterpiller becomes a buterfly and moves to:- Group 2.... Whinging, miserable malcontents.... The managements a farce....the roster stinks.. the bidding list fixed and unfair..the aircraft crap.. the contracts a joke. the salary blah ..blah.. Flight pay.... blah... The transition would appear to measured in fractions of a nanosecond... |
Yachtpilot - my thoughts entirely but fortunately it is only the minority who fall into catagory 2 - they just appear to be very vocal on here
|
Ghostrider749 and all others who think we are a bunch of whingers.
I'm sorry to say that this is not the case. I can still remember the time I would have given anything for a job with anyone and I am still gratefull for the job I have. I constantly give 100% and more to the job I do and I love every minute (well most of it). I hope I am entitled to my opinion like everyone else. The treatment of staff is not tittle-tattle its fact. We have a great team of staff both flying and ops based doing a good job without the proper support they need. Suggesting we should quit because we don't like it is a bit defeatist. We should endeavour to make things better by a change of opinion and attitude. The company can then move forwards in a positive atmosphere. But for this to happen people who make the decisions need to be open to ideas and include their staff in the running of the company. We have a lot of people with a wealth of experience, let's use it and not let it slip through our fingers by staff quitting like you suggest they do. If you are not employed at the moment I wish you luck with your search and hope it's not too long before your dream comes true. You too deserve to be treated fairly and with respect by your employer as befits your professional status. This is a right we should all be entitled too, including me! P.S. Are you related to MOB by any chance? |
You what?
Ghostrider, your initials aren't MOB are they? ;)
That would be the only way anything you say makes sense. Keep your rose tinted specs on, or maybe beer goggles would suit you better, no need to face reality then... Most people in this excuse for a company are trying to get out, for the reasons Fred states, senior management will never listen to the pilots, if the FOD has to leave it says something does it not? yachtpilot, your observations may be correct, and the reason is bad management, quite simple really. Once you get into an airline (if thats what you aspire to) you will find out for yourself. Nearly every pilot I have met in my not short career have wanted to do the right thing and make a success of the company, but mangement adhere to the principal of " beatings will continue until morale improves"! Wait and see matey, you will see I am right, unfortunetly... |
a quick question,
will Emerald 'ONLY' consider type rated applicants, or is there any hope for the rest of us (even if it involves paying for a TR with them first)?? windy. |
