Tsk Tsk, although XXXair probably will get the two Scotish mail runs from ABZ, it really is just a tad naughty telling prospective employees that they HAVE got those contracts.

Not yet in the bag as they would like to think.

CR2 18th Jul 2006 18:38

I had decided to let Monty's post stay for a bit to lend a helping hand to those who need a 360 job. Given EI's response, I think it would be better if we don't encourage people's hopes getting up.

For the protection of all.

My decision. Should anyone have info that may change me mind, PM/email me.

CR2.

I notice the ATP and 748 have been removed from the apron at Liverpool and placed down on the spur,no doubt for the influx of pax arriving for the open

KPMG

Having been stiffed all along the line. It seem the final stiffing is the size of KPMGs bill which by coincidence is mounting at a similar speed to the "asset recovery". A certain amount of "full and frank discussions" are taking place in JEM towers.:} :} :}

FLYBE - FLIGHT CREW OPPORTUNITIES

Hi everyone - just had a call to contact you all.

FlyBe in Exter have been in touch with Engineering in Blackpool who have just contacted me. They are about to acquire another 40+ aircraft and are desperate for air crew. They are wanting all contact details of any Emerald Pilot who does not yet have another position so that they can contact them tomorrow onwards. If you are interested please pm me as I have the contact details. I will also be sending out an e-mail to all crews re this, once Paul Scholes stops putting goals past Celtic!! Funnily enough I was in Emerald's offices yesterday morning getting some of my stuff recovered, and the phones are still ringing. Very strange to be back in there. Nothing much has moved but some things have disappeared much to KPMG's dismay.

Anyway, any FlyBe candidates, please let yourself be known.

Cheers all

Sounds about right, administrators taking all the money for their own bills leaving nothing in the pot for the employees who have been left well short. Not the first time i've heard this story about them!!

Aah, KPMG! I once worked on secondment for a large corporate in Oz. Each year my company contracted KPMG to file all UK employees' tax returns with the Oz taxman. Mine was very straightforward; and I earned less than 50K - KPMG raked in £1200 for the privilege! My boss's was a little more complicated (due to his share options and bonuses!) - KPMG felt able to up his charge to around £4000. On the odd occasion I had to ask for KPMG help with a related tax issue, they were v difficult to find. Good outfit.

well that wouldnt be difficult pat would it !

Emeroid Eng 31st Jul 2006 07:43

Gentlemen,
If you weren't happy with the way maintenance was carried out on the a/c, why did you keep signing the Tech Log's and take them flying.

The Eng's did a damn fine job in keeping the fleet in the air given the very limited resources.

mrsbiggles 31st Jul 2006 10:06

Emeroid Eng - you know perfectly well pat mcgovern et al were not casting aspersions on your skills, indeed they would be the first to say that you did a damn good job under incredibly difficult circumstances. Good old MOB - he even has you undermining each other after he has departed!! Its the spineless management pilots that should be getting flak - they could have supported and stood up for the crews, particularly when there were tech problems, but of course none of them did, they were too busy watching out for themselves. :=

exloadie 31st Jul 2006 10:53

Nothing much has moved but some things have disappeared much to KPMG's dismay.

Maybe KPMG should ask those who still had keys to the building about the missing items?,after all whoever decided they would take the items they would need access to car park and dependant on size of item/items a van, know anyone who could fit the bill? (maybe bob the builder knows)

Emeroid Eng 31st Jul 2006 11:21

Bob the Builder or MOB the Bungler

Hi guys,

Been following this story with interest, not a crew member or anything just a interested individual.

Is there any news on the contracts which were tendered (sorry I don't know the ins and outs of how this thing has been structures) I thought some dicision was due to be announced a couple of weeks ago.

All the best,

Alex

straightnotlevel 31st Jul 2006 18:31

opsqueen, that flybe email add refered me to a guy who said theyre not recruiting till november ??

ToneTheWone 1st Aug 2006 08:50

Flybe

Heard the same from Flybe.

Sent CV and e-mail to the chap at flybe opsqueen kindly suggested. He passed it on to Ian Cheese. He then sent me an e-mail stating First Officer recruitment will start again in October via their web site. It may be very different for captains though.

Good luck to you all still looking for something:ok:

Had it on good authority today that the monies from Airwing are still not in the bank (someone correct me if this is untrue) . Lost is it, or cant they get in out of another Country? Oh dear, oh dear, what kind of a Company are KPMG dealing with here? As if we didnt know! Well KPMG were warned about who they were dealing with, and they have let perfectly good, respectable, Airlines who just wanted to continue the business, disappear. This does nothing for Barclays/KPMG's reputation, and if this is the type of Company they want to do business with, then I'm glad my account is with the NatWest. I think pressure should be put on KPMG to get their act together, listen to the people who are in the know in the first place and not be "guided" by the people who have destroyed our Airline in the first place, and get these bids back out to those who can run the business efficiently and to CAA standards.

Say again s l o w l y 3rd Aug 2006 22:14

I'm afraid that the only people who would be interested in JEM are asset strippers rather than anyone who would be willing to rebuild what could have been a fine company.

The investment needed to get the show back up and running to an acceptable standard is just too great a risk.

Why do it when for far less you could start from afresh with more modern machinery and not have the spectre of previous screw ups constantly bugging you?

Emerald's reputation (such as it was) is gone and there is little to no chance of ever getting it back. It would be far easier to start with a clean sheet.

I hope no-one is holding out any hope of it restarting, because the reality is that there is no real chance of that ever happening. Certainly not after this long.

KPMG are bean counters of the highest degree, their job is to maximise the return to the creditors (i.e the bank) and unfortunately they give as little thought to the welfare of previous employees as MOB did. They couldn't care less what happened to the folks that relied on the place for a salary.

Unfair and unpalatable but ultimately the truth.

Strontium Dog 4th Aug 2006 10:54

From my old fleet (ATP), I think most people have moved to new horizons.

All of the Cabin Crew that I am still in touch with have found employment with new airlines or have moved to other jobs.

From the flight deck on our fleet, everyone has either moved into VLM based in MAN, gone to EuroManx on the Dash or are helping to start the Magic Bird operation.

I personally decided it was time to bite the bullet & borrow the money to go into a low cost airline. I start my Airbus course in a few weeks.

I know of others who have taken the same route into the Low Cost sector.

There is a lot of work about at the moment so most are finding stuff, I'm not sure how some of the guys with only a few years left to retirement are getting on. I hope they are OK.

I would like to wish everyone at the former Emerald well & hope the future is kind to you.

All the best,

SD :)

anyone think we'll get the shortfall between £290 a week and our actual salary?? all gone a bit quiet from BALPA, im still visiting the dept of work & pensions on a fortnightly basis.

The Real Slim Shady 10th Aug 2006 19:46

Not as simple as you may think.
We considered buying the AOC and the Sheds: the rest was of no interest to us. However, the people I spoke to never called back - I have the names and phone numbers but don't feel it is appropriate to name them here.
I was even told that one lady was in a meeting with prospective buyers and if it fell through would call me back; but never did.
In the end, we went elsewhere.

Harrier46 11th Aug 2006 04:43

Maybe the subject for a Jet Blast thread! I left the UK earlier this year, one reason being the difficulty in ever speaking to anybody intelligent on the phone. The time wasted in trying was crazy, I could write a book with the excuses given (tea break, lunch break, meeting, holiday, off sick, travelling, on another line, washroom, outside smoking, expected shortly, wrong person....and others no doubt which I have for now forgotten). And as for calling back.... yeah right! So KPMG are only part of the problem.

Interesting, if you were serious you would of course know that KPMG were not from day 1 interested in selling little bits and pieces of the company, having first hand knowledge of the amount of chancers and timewasters (and I am not sugesting that you are one of those) that contacted them, its hardly surprising, why would you want to break up the company when you had 3 bids on the table for the whole thing.

Funnily enough now that the deal has collapsed thats exactly the situation that KPMG have found themselves in, with no money appearing from the winner of this sorry affair after FOUR seperate deadlines (unless the 'Easter European' money magically arrives in KPMG's account today) the various bits and pieces will be sold on for a fraction of their worth.

Maybe you should get in touch again with KPMG, I hear the sheds are still in good shape, but you will be up against 2 shed operators who have tabled bids and are not interested in an AOC as they already have one. You may be surprised at the price, it really has gone from a fire sale to the great Coventry Car boot sale !

Good luck:ok:

Southendfan2005 14th Aug 2006 16:35

SALE?

Im guessing noone has heard a thing from KPMG about the sale then? ope everyone is okay n found better jobs :) . Even the Accounts Department is bare nw! well it was wen i left it lst week. well jus fort id see if anyone knew anything! me being nosey. Well take care everyone! :ok:

fredtheanorak 18th Aug 2006 21:23

sheds to go?

I've heard a deal has been done on the sheds for them to go overseas. Anyone know anything:confused: . any chance of ferry flight work?:hmm:
