Trouble at BAC express

I did hear that 5 captains resigned last week and that there are more to come.
This will make the staffing level very low for there European ops.

Saves them being made redundant early next year when the royal mail flying will have finished!!

Wonder if BAC will retrain their crew onto the much talked about (pipe dream?) ATR ??

Seeing as how the majority are going off to operate the ATR, thats most amusing Air Mail! Don't listen to the greasy spoon rumour mill, the good ol' shed will be around for a while yet! Mind you, dunno where BAC and that other outfit are gonna get skippers... they are all jumping ship...

I quite often see a BAC Shed at Norwich when I fly in, also an F27 at Birmingham...do these aircraft do much? They always seem to be in the same parking spaces?

They're actually scale models, simply parked to make the airports look busy, nice earner ! - the shed does EMA/LPL for the PO and the F27 does CDG for FedEx all whilst most normal people are tucked up in their beds (gives the illusion of not having moved, if u look carefully the 2 sheds at NWI do sometimes swap places)

News at Ten a few weeks ago reported that the Royal Mail were scrapping the use of trains and were concentrating on road and Air. This was due to poor reliability by the rail network. Maybe BAC Express might be in for a windfall!!!

Sorry Coopervane, but postman pat wants containers to fit in his aircraft, looks like bac are going over a waterfall. Heard from one of their skippers in LPL that they are trying to get shot of all their f27s.

fdd,

Does "containers" mean that the shed will still be OK? ie- Is the Shed big enough for Postman Pat's containers?

Tosh, they are talking about 'iglo' containers, you see them at airports having pax bags loaded, the freight ones are the same, all a standard size. Do not believe the tripe you hear from some folk, they are usually trying to justify their own outlook, and nearly always that is flawed. The shed etc will be freighting around for a few more years yet!

Sheds at SEN

On the same theme I see Streamline Sheds at SEN though recently they were flown by Drivers wearing Emerald tabbards. What are these sheds employed at ?

Meeb, standard size?. Only one size for the Post Office and it aint going to fit in a shed! So get used to day stops in Stornaway and long split duties in the evening. Yeah the brick will still haul as will the F@ker, but its going to be on the fringes as far as Skynet is concerned. Which leaves the Scousers and their budgies, looks like they could be in for a good stuffing.
P.S Heard that Farnair are also trying to flog some of their F27s.
So it seems its' not just B.A.C that wants to get shot of em

Oh shiiish!! Not more day split duties in that campsite on Stornaway and positioning home on days off!!

Anybody know when the Royal Mail are announcing their changed network? Our company seems to think not much will change for at least two years.......

As a sideline to the main theme, does anybody know when the DTi's (or whatever they are known as now) ruling on reinforced, lockable flight deck doors come into force and how this will affect the F27's, Sheds and 748's currently flying in this country? I had heard that they are very reluctant to issue exemptions.

New mail services are due to be phased in from October with contract details (who gets which routes) announced late July. Plans are for more 737/146 type aircraft (Titan & Channex?) with fewer turboprops and maybe some hub changes.

SEN

Thanks for the update. What do the two a/c do out of SEN then as I would hazard a guess that both are and have brrn based there for the last year. I assume that Emerald are based at LPL.
