As someone who was made redundant last December and still unemployed I would be quite interested in any info regarding the company you are departing from. Do DHL offer better prospects than JMC in the current climate? Why leave JMC, I am wondering as I have applied to both, JMC have not replied and DHL won't consider me because although I seem to have relevant hours 3000+ and 2000 jet I don't have 757 rating. Good luck in your job.

Both Tailscrape and I were to be made redundant from jmc at the end of October 2002, so, with roughly 8 guys still on the 'hit list' there who have not found alternative employment yet it is really no suprise that you have not even received a response from them. Unfortunately it is accountants driving pilot recruitment (or redundancies in this case) despite what they are being told by pilot management regarding requirements for the future (near and distant).
I must admit to quite looking forward to the change of scenery that is Freight Dogs and the removal of those whingeing pax!
Best of luck with the job search. DHL will at some point open recruitment up to non type rated guys, my guess would be Spring/ Summer 2003.

Guys,
Thanks for helping out with some sense on the thread!!
I have accepted the job, and like my mate Pilot Pete am really looking forward to the challenges ahead!
As for jmc, they ARE an excellent outfit, who despite the usual moaning do really SPOIL their crews! If they recruit again soon (in their new Thomas Cook Airlines moniker), I would suggest you get in if you can.
The pilot management are first class, and very approachable. To say I have been voluble at times in jmc is an understatement, yet I am still regarded as having a future there if the situation changes. A really good outfit!
I asked the question about DHL (which may have been seen as bragging, because I am giving up a cushy, spoilt job with a final salary pension in favour of flying at night for a new start up!), as I may have not lost my job at jmc after all........
As for DHL recruitment:

Good luck everyone. See you there!!!
