Airbus cancels A320 P2F

Just read this on flightglobal:

Airbus cancels A320 freighter conversion programme

Does this make sense?? To me it seems, 757's are hard to get for conversions those days?! From my point of view the 321P2F would have been the right alternate!

Any comments?

Regards

From the Flight article, Airbus seem to be saying that it is the demand for passenger aircraft remaining high which has caused the decision, rather than anything happening in the freight market (i.e. you can make more money with a passenger aircraft)

From what I have been told by a 321 driver, it needs to step climb often. This does not sound like it would cut the mustard as a freighter. Suppose the question is, if there is a market for the 319/320F? Would presume a large parcel company would have to desire a smaller jet than a 757 or 310. Might be a good replacement for TNT's 146's, just a bit larger.

Confusion is the First State of Learning

I saw the title, and thought it meant, "Pay To Fly."

There is no shortage of relatively cheap A320 supply. However there is a shortage of clients. Only one airline signed for A320 P2F and they are not exactly a big name...
