Dear Freightdogs from the US,
is it true that a group of US Freight Pilots is sueing TSA etc..to allow standy by passengers/friends/spouses back onto the freighters?
The 9/11 Hysteria has among many stupidities also produced a ban on freighters for any stbys/spouses etc..
(China is also prohibiting all stbys
). I can imagine that for UPS,Fedex etc pilots this is quite a drop in quality of life if you cannot take your friends and spouse along with you on trips. In Europe this is also causing great anger that we cannot take our ladys onto trips to the US and would gladly add our weight to such a lawsuit. Does anybody know more details?

Never heard of any 121 operator that allows family and friends to ride along. Since 9/11 it has been ops and mx only. Prior to that our company allowed employees to travel, but never any non employee or someone on company buisness.
What Freight carriers allow friends and family??

I worked for FedEx for 14 yrs (prior to 9/11) and only employees could jump seat--never friends or family. And then business travel would bump personal travel. In addition, we had to test on emergency/evacuation procedures. Can't imagine a freight carrier taking on the additional liability and vulnerability in this day and age.
I enjoyed those priviledges and had a blast riding up front.

Was called "Dependent Travel" at Atlas and Evergreen. FAA approved at one time at both places.
That got canceled with 9-11. Now we can only transport grooms and couriers accompanying freight that you don't have any clue if they are going attempt to take over the A/C with a fake/original cargo shipment vs family members heading out with you to someplace fun. Figure that logic.
Thanks TSA. I feel safer with you every day. I'm sure the unknowing public appreciates the public attempt at security vs reality that makes everyone feel safer.
