I did read the release. Mullen said it was to support DHL US operations. It's nebulous enough that you could spin his statement many different ways till they actually say what they're going to do with them. I'm sure that was the idea, to keep everyone guessing.

By 'supporting operations that serve the US market', it is very likely they will be used point to point across the pond as Floppy states. I've gotta agree 'cos he got the info. from me & what does he mean 'rumour to the extreme'?
Most likely they will be US registered, especially as the EU is preparing to lay down & be screwed by the Yanks into selling out on 7th freedoms.
'Nuff said, any more & I'd have to shoot you.

Deutsche (German) Post
We hear the same rumours here in old mainland Europe that Deutsche (=German) Post applied for a German AOC already. As LEJ will be the future 'super-hub' for their network and other airlines like LH cargo I hope these ships will be on a D-reg.
For DHL LEJ could be just like what Louisville is to UPS.
Politics aside, itīs about time theyīve their very own airline.
Btw. Fedex is flying inter European routes and does not allow subcontractors with jets. Small stuff only. UPS is using some jets but still fly most of the inter European routes as well.
Whatever the big guys decide - letīs hope they create some quality pilot jobs!

DPWN have a stated group policy of preferring to outsource; so, for those of us who are directly employed by the DHL group (DHK & EAT), we probably shouldn't expect to see much change or any further expansion.
I read somewhere that DPWN and Lufthansa Cargo are going to be in intense negotiations over the next 4 months to thrash out a long haul linked program from the new LEJ superhub. The scale of the link is supposed to be much larger even than the recent Polar acquisition, which caters in part, for their outsourcing strategy in the USA.
Strong links between the two German companies (DPWN & Lufthansa) already exist, and let's face it - who can blame either company for wanting to protect their home market?

FOW,
No, Newco will concentrate on long haul, both DHL Air & EAT will remain in existence as separate entities for the immediate future.

With the mention of Fed Ex my ears perked up. Fed Ex's status in Europe is about due for a change with the arrival of 20 757's , starting later this year and running into next year. It is their intention of establishing a dominate position in Europe. Given the success in China and India, they just might do it.
Dont know if its written in stone that Bluebird getting the Dhl B733 contract as i know Air Contractors have one wet leased not just to evaluate it but also for wetlease Dhl/Post work? Eh Ramptramp maybe you can correct me?
Also interesting that B752 EI-LTA is now on the Acl "books" and is as far as I know now in India for Blue Dart Aviation.
In addition to 2 A300B4s be wet leased to EAT an Atr is being placed with Dhl to operate Cgn-Ema 5 night a week.
Having spent a few hours in Leipzig recently and taken part in loading repositioning unloading trials i must say Im very impressed indeed with the hub, the managing director gave me a thorough tour of the facility and good to see the first A300 C? check taking place in the hangar which is huge. Also got an indoor smoking area .The roadways around the ramp are one way only so I think thatll slow down ramp traffic. Very enthusiastic ground ops were in place overseen by an old friend from EMA Hub but with the start of ops Im sure itll run very well without constant guidance from 4 corners!!!!
theres a canteen with dhl cups n saucers (didnt get one)! both male and female sleeping bunks different ids required to get in, a shower wash facility, it points, tvs etc.
No need to get a flat ..........just move in!
Time will tell if i get a chance to operate from there.

EI-LTA is in Jacksonville i understand awaiting an engine , enroute to DUB then Chennai next week. Interesting abou the CGN-EMA must find out if we can use the jumpseats if any.
BBD 737 already in the network and more coming Winter operating ex ARN mainly. I think ACL have a 737 in the system under the Aeroposte (?) disguise running ex BGY?.
Sure hope you'll become a perm feature in LeJ

Dream on Hogg thats a management flight!
LEJ will be fun ,as soon as DHL will have completed the move there will be a big strike for higher wages ,compaired to other local jobs DHL pays bottom wages.
Looking forward on touring the building though

Needs a test flight in accordance with the Boeing delivery so only 2 persons in DHK can do it (originally EAT doing it). Makes sense then for that person to bring it to DUB as well as him having a US Crew Visa and ETOPS experience. Then DUB-Chennai is the Project Manager and a DHK Pilot with a Indian visa. EAT alledgedly tried it without a visa and he nearly ended up in the clink!
The Mgmt flight is a there n back to BGY by the way
Plus Hoggy did 4 B757 deliverys for Kras Air Mia-Dub best one being EI-DUD!!! And I gots a valid Indian business Visa. Send u the pics Neil ha ha. In Cph nxt week neway
