We hear they bought 3 -200s from AAI.
AMH/ARV/ARP

-H has already been delivered last spring.
-P and -V to be dilivered Jan07.

All aircrafts are ex-LH machines.

Second hand info only.

I was told that all of AAI's 400's were purchased from CargoLux and leased back to CargoLux. I don't think they operate any 400's. But that doesn't mean they couldn't be the money machine behind such an arrangement.

Three ex LH -200s are at the zone now with two more coming in January.
Two pax -400s are in Marana waiting conversion. The three -400s in the rumor are more recent rumblings.

Danger

Evergreen's scum bag owner Del Smith wouldn't spend his money on an overpriced B747-400. He fly's old beat up B747-100 / -200 aircraft with P&W engines from the used market. Look how long it took him to obtain Lufthansa's -200's with GE engines. It had to be CHEAP before he bought them.

The Evergreen whores who fly for him (low pay and no benefits) say the Lufthansa -200's are the queen of the fleet. Something to be said for the rest of the fleet which still operates with Pratt and Whittney engines.

Hey; Zoner's... Whatever happened to Mr S. Mehen who did 16 millon dollars worth of damage to Del's newer 747-200's with the GE engines landing in Siganella? Is he still in aviation or did the Fed's revoke his FAA certificates?

That what you get when you don't have a REAL union at Evergrim!!!!

Angryblackman,
You seem to mix fact and fiction to make your point. Some things I would agree with, but calling Evergreen pilots whores is not one. This group has fought for everything and stood up for their rights many times. They have backed other groups as well. Remember the UPS strike a few years back. Many other groups (NWA, Polar, Atlas) flew UPS freight. The Evergreen “whores” stood with IPA and did not cross those picket lines. Just like most other groups we have won some battles and lost some. Have you worked at the Zone?

Well I guess angryblackman never worked for the Zone or he has been gone for a while. While it is true Smith is not crazy about spending money they are looking to upgrade the fleet. The GE planes are nice but it would be nice to have something newer. As far as Mehen goes he went someplace else and I hear he is still working and the plane he ran off the runwaay was N485EV a PW powered -200. We did not even have 487,488 or 489 the GE jets at the time.

I think you better prove that.

I agree! I don't think Atlas or Polar flew UPS cargo during the strike...

For shame, angryblackman. I had never met a zoner (or ex-zoner) that couldn't prove their aviation worth. They certainly know how to take punishment!

You need to check the facts before you say things you know "nothin " about. Tis better to be thought a foul than open one's mouth and remove all doubt!

EV has contract to operate the 747-400 super guppies for Boeing, so they may as well add some more to the fleet. Their fleet needs depend on the ongoing need for lift to the middle east, of course.

Have any of you run the numbers to show it is as economical to run a -400 in cargo ops, vs a -200? If not, maybe you have no basis to complain about Smith. When you pay high rent on a plane, you better get high utilization, like hauling SLF on a sked.

Teamsters went on strike at UPS and IPA supported them by not crossing their picket lines. IPA asked other pilot groups to honor the Teamster picket lines as well. Evergreen pilots refused to fly any UPS work during the strike even though threatened by management. Most of the Polar pilots also refused but some did fly UPS. ALPA determined that because it was Teamsters strike they would fly UPS hence Atlas and NWA were on the SDF ramp with Polar. Angryblackman said Evergreen pilots were whores and did not have a "real" union. My point is that all unions, real or not, do not always do the right thing. Self interest gets in the way. By the way, the Captain on the first Polar flight into SDF that day was an ex-zoner and a friend of mine. He is still my friend.

Proof

So this was not a UPS pilots strike as you implied in your earlier post.

Evergreen pilots refused to fly any UPS work during the strike even though threatened by management. Most of the Polar pilots also refused but some did fly UPS.
Better prove that one too.

ALPA determined that because it was Teamsters strike they would fly UPS hence Atlas and NWA were on the SDF ramp with Polar.
Once again have any proof? ALPA doesn't determine anything. It is usually a person. Who at ALPA put out the communication to that effect?

I remember Atlas flying TO SDF which they would have been required to do (so they probably were "on the ramp") - but I can't recall even one aircraft that carried one stick of UPS freight.

My point is that all unions, real or not, do not always do the right thing. Self interest gets in the way.
Sure, and that is a true statement. But it ain't the UNION'S self interest. It is the individual pilots self interest. Sorry but in this case a strike by teamster truckers would be hard to support from the air-side unless they could put up a picket line on the ramp.

By the way, the Captain on the first Polar flight into SDF that day was an ex-zoner and a friend of mine. He is still my friend.
Did he just park on the ramp or did he actually carry cargo?

This is similar to the AFL-CIO asking us not to stay at some hotels in support of their members. Do you know which hotels we should not be staying at? How about which table saws we weren't supposed to buy last year? Moslty you just need proof of all of your statements.

The difference between Del and Fred (SMITH)

Quote: "I had never met a zoner (or ex-zoner) that couldn't prove their aviation worth. They certainly know how to take punishment! "

That's exactly why evergreen pilots are whores...

Instead of dishing out the punishment to that old man (Delford Smith), you pilots suck up to him and take the punishment year after year. ...Your whores.

You even go to his management meetings at recurrent or initial training and stand there with your hands over you heart pledging the allegiance to the flag like elementary school children. What kind of crack are you smoking down there in Hootterville, Oregon you idiots?

You have two executives named SMITH, who start two different cargo airlines. One is named Del and the other is named Fred.

Fred runs a multi-billion dollar worldwide airline business that hires pilots with a four-year college degree (no exceptions) and many with a master's degree with prior military experience. And pay six figure incomes to all his pilots and many of his mechanics.

Del runs a million dollar half-ass airline from the middle of no-where Oregon with beat up B-747's from the used market. To cheap to buy new airplanes, and has pilots who many still have only High School diplomas and no college. ...That's why there at Evergreen and not at Fed Ex.
Evergreen pays substandard wages that takes over 12 years of misery to break 100,000 dollars a year, assuming your a Captain and have not been either fired or laid off by former managers like Robert Warren - a pure A-hole.

Fed Ex pilot will retire with a hefty pension, Evergreen pilots will retire with nothing but what they saved in their 401K-scam plan that Del gave them.

Who's running the Evergreen Crew Member association; you know... the one Del Smith put on the property after he ran off the teamsters union back in 1995? Is former manager, Bob Chapman running the do-nothing-unless-Del says-so-union?

Until you quit and find real jobs or have the balls to turn Evergrim into Fed Ex...your whores.

Auburn
