Im sure if an aircraft had lost all its cargo in flight due to a overwing exit door flying off that would make the local headlines at least!

Overwing exit

Yes a 748 didi indeed lose an overwing exit door - Found on the airfield at EMA, shortly after departure to IOM. Not discovered by crew until informed by IOM ATC. Reports were that the cladding had prevented any cargo (mail) loss, but there have been rumours of post intended for IOM being found in the Manchester area.

Sounds like they were very lucky. A Dan-Air 748 which lost its overwing exit in flight didn't manage to survive the journey and nor did its three occupants - back in 1980/1981, I think.

I think the 748 that was lost shed the rear door not an overwing exit.
