Not too long ago’ most 74 SOs would be upgraded on other fleets to avoid problems, especially the no previous experience ones.
Now it is exactly that, off you go and try not to break anything. In my last sector a guy candidly asked my how do you maintain a profile when you are not on the Magenta line I have no idea. |
The Airbus is easier for today’s kids who can’t fly an aeroplane but can rote learn the manuals and procedures. Something requiring techniques, feel and judgment is another matter.

They still can't explain DES mode though.

Could someone please tell me the exact monthly salary, including allowances, for FOs and captains?
|
yay.... hopefully DEC for all pilots will be available soon. Plenty of guys waiting for it. No wonder HK govt are fed up with CX. Not sure what are they waiting for while the supply are plenty outside. hehehehe .... dont tell me the standard bla bla bla.....

there is not plenty of people applying for all positions and the ones applying are not the usual people. Most of the new hires are SO or re entrees. FOs with a half decent job are not applying. |
well.... i dont think so. I am sure a lot of qualified FO applying. CX job still the best in the world maybe except US. this is fact.

Well Cygnet you seem to be a gweilos hater inviting them to leave so others, maybe you, can take the job.
You probably don’t know what you are talking about and probably are not in CX and if you are you are in denial. |

leave faster then, the resignation rate not high enough. hahahahaha
|
We still have plenty of eligible FOs who could do a command course tomorrow (ex KA and rejoiners)

It will be fascinating the burn out rate once ( or if ) CX gets its 321’s back up toward the number of flights into China of old. Granted HKEX picking up the slack. Shudder. Stick to long haul if you want an easy life. |

That's odd. I don't recall hearing any KA 320/21 flogging around southern, central or northern China during my time within the region. 30-40 sectors a month? Where was that? All along the east coast? Hardly grueling Gnad if that's what you mean. Looks good on a CV though I guess.
Seriously? When were you in the region? https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....730908a35.jpeg |

You may wish to improve on that map BuzzBox. My comment related purely to A320/21 ops. I did multiple runs into and out of China during all hours and never once heard a KA callsign within southern, central or northern ports. KA operated out of HKG which is obvious, but to state flying into China is grueling depends on the locations they went to.
How about answering the question? WHEN were you operating into and out of China? |

lol didn’t the Americans all take the Company to court? Why would they set themselves up for another day in court when they only just got out of there..?
What was the result? |
I have every single one of those (Chinese) ports in my logbook. It had its challenges (mainly in summer), but we were compensated well and had well trained colleagues.
In comparison to long haul the frequency alone could be draining. The fixed leave period scheme helped with that. Not sure when and where this fellow was flying if he did not hear a single plane in China sporting the Dragon call sign, we were all over the place. Anyway I hear that at least training is a bit more relaxed in CX, which is good. Generally it was pretty relaxed in KA too, except for the command course where things definitely got more intense. That said it did prepare you for the short haul operation in and out of China quite well. All that aside the real question is: how is HKG now to live in, in comparison to how it used to be? Has it really changed that much? Getting mixed signals from different places and given that it has been almost 4 years since I have been it may be time to have a look soon. In the very least the opportunity bears examination. The company was extinguished abruptly and somewhere it feels correct to at least get the opportunity to return to what was our old working place. That said it would not be KA we return to and it may not be for everyone. Times change, circumstances do too. In the end its good its happening in my opinion and best of luck to everyone that applied. |
I don’t begrudge those ex-KA going back. It is a submission. And make no mistake, CX management are only taking ex-KA because they are desperate. They treated us and our families with disdain, they had government loans to preserve their human capital which was relatively elite by regional standards. That sounds a little conceited. I don’t mean it to be. If they preserved expertise they would have been ahead of the market making a fortune.
Pay and an incredible leave system permitted KA pilots to endure a toxic management culture ( when at its worst ) and the drudge and endurance of China flying. Pay is gone? Lifestyle is gone? Toxic culture is? |
