Nah ill second him on that one... its true

I agree with that. Most can’t descend via a STAR with out asking the controller 3-4 times for a altitude. WTF, it’s on the SID. The controller repeats the clearance and is left with the thought, what the hell is wrong with CX.

Top Tip when trying to be condescending. Know what you are talking about:\ Are the SIDS that you are descending on the same as the STARS you are climbing out on:E |
I always thought a SID was a departure so you wouldn't be descending!
The controllers are not the only ones with funny thoughts. |
Overall CX "training" is a perversion of most any decent airline standard. There are a number in it for the correct reasons but sadly good training effort is largely overtaken by the influence of those that do not belong in training (and maybe even in airplanes, but we are talking CX here after all) and them that happily enable their being there. Another good reason to put this place in your rear view mirror. Most airlines don't lower themselves to politically weaponizing this vital safety department to the nefarious degree CX has proven to be capable of. I am glad to see a renown former “chopper” has retired to his small village in the UK. Too bad there is no shortage of the weak and under-confident needing projection opportunities eager to model the same bad behavior. Good riddance, but nothing will ever change here, save yourself.

I’m certainly no apologist for CX, as anyone on Fragrant Harbour for more than a few days can attest. Most of the “training” here is more like checking, but the standard really isn’t that high at CX anymore with all new hires being low or no time. So all in all, it’s just a bit of a dog and pony show. There are a few “choppers” left, most of whom are easy to get past if you just stroke their egos a bit. There are definitely some in training that do not belong, but you get that in every airline. It has gotten worse recently as the training ban keeps the good guys out, and several of the weasels slide in defiance of the ban.

This thread has, as usual, deteriorated into slamming and writing libelous statements about each other.
No wonder the pilot group at CX is so fragmented. This pilot group is weak. You all deserve to stay at CX, as you all will. Goodbye and Good Luck Oh and before any genius says it, I was Cat A when I quit. |

Good point, well made. However, this whole forum is not indicative of the pilot body. It's the same 10-20 guys, banging away at each other. Like an old sitcom, entertaining for a season or two, then repetitive and uninteresting. |

Right! CX is actually a great place to work. HK is actually a great place to live, not overly polluted or expensive. Most CX pilots are very happy, especially with the quality and cost of food and schools. Those regularly posting on here are not indicative of the majority at all. Believe that? If yes, I’ve got a bridge and some ocean front property to sell you. You are perfect for CX. This is a fool’s airline, and if it weren’t for the global seniority system, CX would have a fraction of the pilots it now employs. If I could make a lateral transfer to any of the seniority driven airlines in my home country, I would do it in two seconds. Those coming to join at the bottom in anticipation of a “career” here are indeed fools. This is NOT a career airline anymore. You’ve all been warned, but that won’t stop you from complaining once you see for yourselves. |
