Log Book

Does anyone know where I can buy a new log book. CAD have none and I would like one of the old fashion ones. Not iPad or computer generated ones.

Many thanks

I recenlty got mine from my fleet office, asked them to get from CAD and paid for it out of salary.

aviationworld.net has a nice selection and will ship to Hong Kong. ASA and Jeppeson have some really nice quality ones. The CAD ones are CRAP (no surprise).

Are the HKG CAD logbooks referenced or copied from any other regulatory so that that regulator's logbook may be used ie UK CAA? (same columns etc)

I think you'll find that Hong Kong's CAD407 log books are the same as the UK CAP407.

After all, HK's aviation legislation and guidance material is mostly copied from the former motherland.

Thanks Buzzbox, yeah it looks the same

Will the CAD accept a stack of LogTen Pro-generated logbook printouts?

Yes. For new licenses, the printouts may need a certification stamp or two..

No they're not. They used to be very similar to the UK's CAP407, but with the addition of the P2X and simulator columns. In the CAP407, sims were logged in a separate section in the back. Now the CAP407 is in the JAR format and very different.

I bought a CAD407 about three weeks ago. Must have been the last one -sorry!

HK CAD Logbook Instructons

Can anyone post a scan of (or provide a link to) the instructions for logging flight time that are printed in the HK CAD Logbook?

I'm trying to figure out how to correctly log some odd stuff, like CAD528 sim checks after a CCQ course.

Thanks.

how do you guys convert P2X (Sandwich Officer time) to you JAR-FCL (EASA) log books? as P2 time or?

Cheers :ok:

SloppyJoe 11th February 2013 15:49

Ahahahahah, yeah as P2 time :-) Best you ask your local authority to get an answer from them although I can tell you what they will say.

What is P2X? So you did not have a type rating in the aircraft? You were not allowed in the seat below 20,000ft you say?

Sorry but you can't log that as anything.

Sqwak7700 12th February 2013 01:23

A cruise relief pilot may log as pilot in command all the time he occupies a pilot's seat as relief for the designated commander.
Is this the same as CAD? Then I need to revise my PIC times.

freightdog188 12th February 2013 03:16

@standard1013

Doesn't that CAA document assume that, to be in the seat in the first place, you need a valid P1 rating, not "P2X"?

Which would mean that you can log the time if you are relief F/O, but not as a S/O.
