Not a problem. I will be boosting my own morale. A month off being 'unfit'. See you beginning of Feb (almost my last month anyway!).

Trafalgar 6th Dec 2017 22:09

And remember. If she doesn't pay the 13th, she has taken 8% of your yearly income away. I'm sure your families won't mind. In fact, they will be filled with joy and happiness at the thought that such a move actually increases her personal bonus. What's not to like...

airplaneridesrfun 7th Dec 2017 02:34

Don't forget the 10% we have already given her due to 'HPE'.

Farman Biplane 7th Dec 2017 03:00

YEN only finished yesterday. I believe the FAU went in for full 13th month and a 3.5% payrise, based on HK inflation figures.
Apparently we must give them time to remodel the pineapple and apply more glitter!
ARAPA must be inextricably and conveniently linked to everything except reality.

checklistcomplete 7th Dec 2017 03:26

Just announced by RH.
Capped at HKD35000. Nothing for level D and above.

checklistcomplete 7th Dec 2017 03:36

FAU calling for an immediate "walkout".
No comment from AOA. Most still asleep.

Farman Biplane 7th Dec 2017 03:41

8% pay cut for 2017 it is then.

never ready 7th Dec 2017 03:51

As expected from this lot, divide and conquer.
However the question is....what are we going to do about it?
The correct answer is obvious.
Oh and a clue..... the wrong answer is "do nothing".
:ugh::ugh:

Wouldn't 35k be a full 13th month for most of the cabin crew anyway? Or is it the paltry 1% they are calling a walkout over?

A3301FD 7th Dec 2017 04:14

If this insult has not convinced the pilots of CX at the level of contempt in which we are held nothing will.

So AT and RH will be enjoying their Xmas holidays while laughing at how they have stuffed us like Turkeys.

My interviews upcoming are with KAL and CSA.

The ship is slipping under, don’t be the last off, space on the boats will be gone by then...

raven11 7th Dec 2017 04:25

Withdraw from all negotiation, no vote on any supposal, don’t sign anything, and continue with contract compliance and the training ban.....

No 13th month equates to a pay cut of over eight percent; add the upcoming ARAPA cash grab and their take is going to be 25%....

Dear GC, that’s enough.

Farman Biplane 7th Dec 2017 04:26

Don’t fret, there will be a special clause to ensure that all trainers/checkers get their 13th month payment. Bang for the bonus buck!
Divide and conquer

raven11 7th Dec 2017 04:37

Farman,
Trainer’s are pilots. Maybe you haven’t noticed but they don’t especially care for pilots.

Trafalgar 7th Dec 2017 04:45

Farman Stupid comment.

mngmt mole 7th Dec 2017 04:57

Dear Anna,

There are only two options: a) you and your management colleagues are utterly tone deaf, or b) you and your management have utter contempt for your senior aircrew.

I am going with "b" (although "a" is probably true as well). The fact that you have the unmitigated nerve to treat the Captains of the airline in such a cavalier fashion leads to one simple conclusion: you are willing to risk setting the airline on fire. Well, fire is what you will have.

The fact is that you may have attacked a specific group of pilots, but you have also proven to the younger more junior ones what awaits them if they are foolish enough to chance a career here. The exodus will now gather steam. Never mind what you will now see amongst your trainers.

Thank you for helping make up my mind as to my long term plans. You and this airline are deserving of the exact same level of contempt that you have just shown us. Game on.

plainpilot11 7th Dec 2017 05:13

Line in the sand

Yes. This is a line in the sand. It has to do with my family, my wife, and my kids. It has to do with an attack on my family.

Yes.

Game on. I have a feeling that this airline is going to be done for in two months or less. Done. Gone.

Trafalgar 7th Dec 2017 05:49

It may not be done....but it will certainly be on its knees. Hold your colleagues to account. We all need to contribute to repaying them the utter contempt they have just shown us.

never ready 7th Dec 2017 07:30

From my perspective this beggars belief.
I'll use examples of employee groups but please, it is not personal, just examples.

Why would you not pay all your Captains an ex gratia payment?
These are the very people who have made your airline what it is today, many of whom have worked for this company for up to 30+ years.
You will not pay your loyal and long serving employees, but you will pay someone who may have only worked for the airline for one year.
The message you are sending is that you do not value (in any form) all the Captains in this airline, the job they do and the responsibility they hold.
You will pay the most junior cockpit crew member/cabin crew/ground staff an ex gratia payment but not the senior employees.
It really is a bizarre situation.

Some comments below, from someone NOT in the aviation industry on reading the CEO's letter. (Not my comments)
1. It actually says F*** You to all the Level D employees.
2.They are just looking at where they can save bits here and there.
3. Non strategic and the sign of a company that is totally screwed.
4. I doubt it's going to get any better because the mindset is all wrong.
5. There's no growth aspect that you need in turnarounds.
6. It's such basic business understanding that's lacking.
7. Re Reuters recent report on McKinsey and CX: Because they won't be able to figure out a plan themselves.
8. Solution: unprintable.

SUGGESTION
As the "door is always open in CX", we should all write (individually) to the CEO and ask for the rationale behind the decision why level D (and above) employees won’t receive an ex gratia payment this year.

oriental flyer 7th Dec 2017 07:47

Once again they are rubbing salt into the festering wound , with the excuse that times are bad and they can't afford any more . Well what about the years that this company made billions in profits . Some of those profits should have gone into a rainy day fund so that when times were bad ,like now ,funds would be available to recompense the aircrew .
This whole screw up is the fault of upper management who have yet to accept and take responsibility for their mess . If half the upper echelons of this company had been fired for the fuel debacle ,then perhaps I could swallow this ultimate slap in the face , but not in these circumstances .
So an 8% pay reduction must be resolved by a roster that's worked 8% less than published . It's really simple maths ,at 90 hours per month I need to loose just on 8 hours ,but it's better to do double in one month and get overtime the next . I'm already deciding when I suddenly won't be feeling very well .
