"Senior" Simulator Instructors ?

It will be very very interesting to see just how many of these, mostly fully retired STC's, or those that are returning (J Mxx) etc. will be only too happy to insert themselves back into a position that will take away higher paying positions from those who are still in active flying positions.
You will very clearly get a picture of those who have any integrity at all toward those still actively involved in trying to better themselves and or their career paths.

The narcissists will float to the top and show themselves immediately

Trafalgar 11th Aug 2016 16:26

Give it a rest. CX needs simulator instructors, and they are the most qualified. Many of them are pretty good guys (JMac one of them) and I am glad to see them back.

Trafalgar 11th Aug 2016 16:34

Are you suggesting someone like RM isn't deserving of the job, or welcome to be one of our instructors? One of the best people i've ever known, and I'm glad he's staying on. Hopefully they can help wind in the necks of people like yourself.

Flex88 11th Aug 2016 16:38

Give it a Rest

So, let me get this straight. You're totally happy for "ex" STC's (i.e. retired) to come back and take away STC (i.e. checking) positions from those who are still actively flying (i.e. still on the Fxxxxxx seniority list).
This a direct result of the shortage caused by CC & TB.

Real nice, how magnanimous of you !!!

Trafalgar 11th Aug 2016 17:08

There is already TOO much training workload as it is...we need the new instructors. I will be happy to see a reduction in workload. So YES, i'm happy. I really don't care if you aren't.

cxorcist 11th Aug 2016 17:30

Just WOW! Ask guys on bases not represented by the HKAOA to avoid training in support of the ban while simultaneously welcoming back retired trainers as senior sim instructors qualified to do PCs. Hypocrisy in the extreme! I'm surprised that AAOA and AOAE don't dump HKAOA just like AOAC and USAOA have. Tick tock... CX pilots never cease to amaze.

Flex88 11th Aug 2016 17:40

Checking vs Training

"I" am totally NOT averse to return STC's returning for training....

Checking (IR/528/PC's/Comand Lofts etc) is not training and they would be directly usurping the position of an active "still on the seniority list" flight crew member.

This is a CX back door move just as they have always done and always, surprise surprise, to the detriment of line flight crew.

I'm real glad to see your are all for this:ok:

Captain Dart 11th Aug 2016 22:12

Please tell me it's not the Screaming Skull, needing beer money, coming back to shriek at people in a CX lurching box. I thought that he was off to tell the world how to run civil aviation?

Kontract Killer 11th Aug 2016 22:45

Sorry Trafalgar but you must seriously be sniffing something if you think this is a reasonable course of action.

These retired 'millionaires', who have had the best of CX, are now invited back through the back door, in a blatant attempt to bust the training ban and you are OK with it? Perhaps they should just get a life and stop being a bunch of selfish pr***s. I'm sure to a man, they were never members of the AoA and are completely disinterested in our cause to keep the conditions we signed up for.

It's unbelievable to think that anyone of 65+ years, has nothing better to do with their life, than watch their remaining years vanish, doing 3AM Sims.

Rather than applaude the action, I think it's more appropriate to feel sorry for these very sad gits.

I'm all for less Sims but to be happy that they have come back to reduce our workload, is utter bo****ks.

cxorcist 12th Aug 2016 00:10

Vote for Rod!

KARDINIA 12th Aug 2016 01:05

Bullies are back

Trafalgar , many of these guys were the Bullies of the airline and now they are back too Bully people again. There is no place for them here...Simple as that. If they really wanted to give something back to the industry why don't they go and do some work at their local Aero club .Where young airman of the future would listen to every word that comes out of there mouth. This is called giving something back to the industry !!!!! GIVING, something that this bunch have never done. Take, take, take.

I agree RM is perfect to Check in the Sim , but he's now 65, he's had his turn and now is time for others to get the opportunity that RM has had for the last 20 plus years. 20 plus years on a STC salary. Give me a break.

Just Do It 12th Aug 2016 01:16

Another nail in the coffin of the training ban.
Yes and No

All they are doing is kicking the can down the road.

These guys are not immortal. Although I am starting to have my doubts with some of them!

So is the Skull definitely coming back? If so, I hope he understands no one apart from the eunuch's in company are going to take any of his crap!

You are the epitome of why I hate most CX pilots, that just happen to be from a certain nationality! Completely wishy-washy with absolutely no back bone.

So you think a member of the Star Chamber that terminated 52 of your colleagues is a "pretty good guy".

goathead 12th Aug 2016 03:01

Trafalgar just wants to be up there himself , thats all
Just give him a break . He loves ERAS reporting remember , it doesnt take him that long to do.

744drv 12th Aug 2016 03:07

You hypocrite Trafalgar!!

Trafalgar 12th Aug 2016 03:15

oohhhhh, 'hate'...yep, that's measured and balanced (and oh, btw, what's my nationality?). Little known fact: JMac actually saved several people from the likes of 'Madaxe' and 'Turnover' and a few other immoral creatures. Like many things about this airline, why ruin a good story with the facts? Is the man perfect?....no, most of us aren't. He has a conscience and i've seen that first hand. You, you've never met me, but you feel it appropriate to 'hate' me. Well, peace and love to you brother . ps. I enjoy the name calling, so keep the cards and letters coming.

Samsonite 12th Aug 2016 04:55

Agree with Cxorcist!!!! Thanks Rod!! So much for all of our pressure, you just cost us a bunch of crew and slowed career progression!!

Trafalgar 12th Aug 2016 05:05

fair enough. just get a bit tired of the 'senior' bashing, but I concur with your point Curtain. Many are good guys but i see the point in it undermining the ban. I'll send myself to the sinbin on this one. :hmm: (however, Samsonite, what on earth was the AOA to do?...let's see this through....rome wasn't built in a day)

Samsonite 12th Aug 2016 06:19

Traf, see it through and watch Air Hong Kong and KA grow by us giving them A/C? Good for them bad for us!!

Arfur Dent 12th Aug 2016 06:30

For goodness sake give these retirees the cold shoulder when you see them. They are not "good blokes" (JM is a nasty piece of work) and they are undermining the AOA for extremely selfish reasons. Sim instructors after a full and well paid Cathay career to 65??
How bloody sad! Piss off - the lot of you.
Trafalger - you should hang your head in shame defending that lot.

Frogman1484 12th Aug 2016 06:59

go sick when you are rostered for one of them! Soon they will realise that they will cost them more money on the long run.

The other thing is that they can only exercise their stc privileges for 12 months after they have flown the aircraft.

Steve the Pirate 12th Aug 2016 07:43

@Trafalgar

Seeing you as one of the harshest critics of the company's tactics during this latest dispute I was interested to read you supporting the introduction of SSIs. I can only assume it's because a number of them are your mates that you even considered writing such an ill-advised piece in the first place. Frankly, sending yourself to the sin bin is a cop out and your original post on this thread makes me think that all that you've written previously was simply rhetoric.

STP

cxorcist 12th Aug 2016 09:10

Abnormally quiet old Trafalgar is now. Maybe he realized he was taking the piss. Sooner or later, the colours always shine through. Sorry mate, but you either had a major brainfart or you've been BSing us this whole time. Which is it?

PanZa-Lead 12th Aug 2016 12:06

I agree with the Froggie

I won't do any rating sim unless it's with a genuine Cathay check captain.

Trafalgar 12th Aug 2016 13:04

Cop out...? Ok, I bow down before all of you who are sooooo erudite that you have never posted something without quite thinking it through clearly. I acknowledged that I had not taken into account that they were doing checking as opposed to just training. I acknowledged I was wrong. But go ahead, keep bashing away at me. If it makes you feel better....:bored:

cxorcist 12th Aug 2016 14:10

Nope, your post makes me feel better. Thank you.

Trafalgar 12th Aug 2016 14:17

..........:)

Flex88 12th Aug 2016 14:26

Give it a rest

Traf...

Thank you for seeing the light. While we all are trying to see the "big picture" sometimes we need to take notice of the smaller details that the Swire "management" style try to backdoor everybody. It's just the way they the've done business for 150+ years and they can't help themselves. Something like death by paper cuts....

Trafalgar 12th Aug 2016 16:15

Yep, noted Flex. Had the wrong end of the snake on this one. I was just a bit frustrated with the issues becoming so personal. Some of the guys I know and respect, but I completely agree that it is ultimately a CX strategy designed to undermine the TB. I was a bit blind to that initially, so humbly acknowledge that. Too much sacrifice made by too many people to want to see that compromised. If it's any consolation, the numbers involved won't really relieve the pressure on the company to any degree. KA took almost 5 years to get the contract they did (better than ours!), so i'm in it for the long haul. I appreciate the effort everyone is making, sorry I appeared insensitive to that. I think most know by my rantings that I am pretty pro-AOA and it's efforts. :)

Flex88 12th Aug 2016 16:27

Onward

Everybody is on the same page (I hope) and it can get emotional. I just hope we can all keep an open mind on "all" the details and don't get caught bent over in the shower because that is exactly the way they do business.
Remember a year or so ago the "Staff Travel Enhancements". !!
It's a dog fight... watch your back...

Baby steps - everything helps:)

Captain Dart 12th Aug 2016 22:45

It's confirmed. The Skull's back as an Airbus SI. From CX Management Star Chamber tough guy, to running Australia's CASA, to 'King of the Kids' in a lurching box.

Pathetic. They really must be desperate.

Spooky 2 12th Aug 2016 22:54

Didn't Boeing have some sim instructors working over there for awhile? How did that work out?

Dilbert68 13th Aug 2016 02:07

Great to see the skull back at CX. How many more careers can he ruin of those who don't massage his massive ego?
The fact that they are re-hiring this psychopath, shows how they feel about the aircrew. He is the worst trainer I have ever seen next to MFL, he should have been placed in a padlocked, padded room years ago.

SOPS 13th Aug 2016 05:59

How old is this guy? Hasn't he got better things to do, like enjoy his retirement?

flyhardmo 13th Aug 2016 06:51

To some of these people this company is like Hotel California.

A3301FD 13th Aug 2016 06:57

Are any of these returning STCs over 65? If they are, how can they hold a professional license and be authorised examiners? Is that not a contravention of ICAO rules ?

Arfur Dent 13th Aug 2016 07:18

Don't think they need a professional licence. They just need to be checked out by the other inmates in the asylum called 'Cathay Management".
Be very afraid of the Skull. Short fuse, big ego, point to prove and in charge of your career when his has gone pear shaped? His 'unreasonable behaviour' has been tolerated in the past ( even by the CAD) so don't expect any support from anyone if you turn up and find yourself failing something important.......

TurningFinalRWY36 13th Aug 2016 07:21

For someone who is not familiar with 'the Skull', which fleet will he be conducting training on?

Dilbert68 13th Aug 2016 21:24

In years past, whenever an STC became a sim instructor (such as loss of medical cases), they were allowed to conduct regulatory events in the sim for one year after their last flight in the aircraft or the expiry of their letter of authority as an authorized examiner, whichever occurred first.

Sounds like CAD has yet again changed the rules in favour of CX to allow these individuals to re-qualify as STC's in the sim only.

Of course none of these sad pricks will decline the offer to conduct PC's, it will be a big boost to their egos since they clearly have nothing else going on in their lives.
