Some How I'm Tired 22nd Apr 2016 23:00

You can link the May 31st deadline to delivery of the first A350. This is when the wheels are really going to start falling off the cart.

I suspect Miss T has been instructed by her superiors to have the crewing problem sorted out by then OR ELSE.

She has no idea how a pilot's brain works. She thinks we are uneducated and don't know all about how MBA students are taught draconian management methods. WE'VE SEEN IT ALL BEFORE! It's laughable. She also thinks that threatening 3000 Type A personalities will save her bacon. This will be good to watch!

Goodbye Miss T. Been nice knowing you (not)!

Outsourced training?

Let's explore that, which airlines could CX use and would it be up to CX space mission standard, will they pass when they return to the flock?

How long would it take and how many Airbuii will be sitting in Hong Kong or Toulouse while this process unfolds?

Hand the cargo fleet over to a third party, who will train them clearly not CX, once again will they like having the CX paint job being flown around not to space mission standard? What if there was an incident???

I think like others, the long term consequences will be AT will no longer work at CX :{

Ms. Thompson seems to forget that many of the pilots hold MBA's. Many of us have worked in management before (or do presently!), whether at this carrier or others. Her tactics are all to reminiscent of the old Freehills mob, who advised in the early 90's. The problem is, this is no longer the 90's, and many of us have other options. So you go ahead AT and start ratcheting up the rhetoric. Few of us really care what you or the other Swire management think anymore. As a previous post pointed out, you have taken our goodwill for granted, and now that it's withdrawn, you find you can't run the airline. Funny old thing. I would strongly suggest the way to see a return of goodwill is hardly through the issuance of threats. What a sad and pathetic, tired and predictable bunch you've become. Time for some more popcorn.

Its not an MBA that will save the day it's leadership. I see lots of managers but not a single leader. Lead the troops and they will go into battle but, and it's such a shame, it's too late. The smart 'mutiny' of Contract Compliance is in full swing and only those who are so begrudging of losing their EFP will be dashing into work on their days off when we are not mandated, post contract compliance, to just do our jobs.

mngmt mole 23rd Apr 2016 01:17

The only two 'leaders' I know of who actually know about aviation (unlike current DFO) are MH and GS. Either of whom would have created a far more cooperative and positive environment. You reap what you sow, and the present senior management are certainly learning that lesson. What a shambles.

Captain Dart 23rd Apr 2016 01:58

Interesting to read in the Friday updates this week of four senior captains resigned (3 Airbus and one Tractor). And the number of command upgrades was...erm...one, and who knows how many FOs are leaving? It seems they have a problem retaining the crew they've got, yet they continue on a path of self-destruction.

Oh wait: it's an opportunity to replace us with cheap 'brushwingers'.

VR-HFX 23rd Apr 2016 02:29

Hugo is spot on ...lots of managers but not a single leader.

There are too many managers and they are all managing (for want of a better word) upwards. When they are not doing that they are war gaming crazy strategies that never survive the first sign of enemy fire. As a consequence the DFO and those higher on the trapeze believe all the purple smoke signals that are wafting up to them.

It never ceases to amaze me the levels of childish ignorance on display should one bump into any of this cast of characters.

Winning teams and winning strategies are not bought; they are created by leaders. There is no better example of this than the San Antonio Spurs of the NBA. The DFO and all her sycophants could do worse than to take a leaf out of the Gregg Popovich and RC Buford playbook. Truth, honesty, trust, engagement at all levels.

Doubt this will happen as it requires a skill set not taught in any MBA program or the cloistered universities of Mother England. Popovich learned all of his leadership skills ...not via an MBA but in the airforce.

The missive from the DFO is not a threat. It is simply the clearest signal yet that she does not have the leadership skills to create a team like the Spurs.

MBA's ?

When CX hires smart "qualified" people to tackle tough problems; they all leave and usually quickly. Many years ago (15 or so) they hired a highly qualified young gent ( from Stanford or Berkley) whom I got to know and he didn't last long at all.. Seems CX wanted to fix all their legacy problems without spending money ! Go figure. Here we are today, at least 15 years later, and if you go to click on the link for CathatPacific.com on one of the "company computers" available most anywhere in CX City; it will tell you "I'm sorry, the computer or Web Browser you're using is to old to support this web site"
I think this fact is so well known that Swires have started their own "Management College" in Hong Kong so they can train and educate young minds the "Swire Way". Sad but true.

RAT Management 23rd Apr 2016 07:05

AT has invested money. Money to implement the Sickness Management Programme. Rather than fix the cause lets just manage the symptom.:D

A sign of high quality management if ever I have seen it:ok:

PS I love these smilies you can write what your feeling without tying a word.

:yuk: :confused: :ugh: :( :mad: :ugh: :ugh: :ugh: :ugh: :ugh: :ugh: :ugh: :ugh:

It's gonna be great! At last, the Airbus fleet will be properly crewed!

(once they give 6 of them to our friends across the road...)

And that's the Threat?? What a joke.

Arfur Dent 23rd Apr 2016 12:54

Consequences?? Too bloody right there will be consequences.Hahahahahahahah!
And all we do is work exactly to our contracts and NO MORE. Perfect!
Consequences - cheeky monkey.:cool::cool::E
Coke Zero and some popcorn please.

Pain 24th Apr 2016 05:44

Where from here?

The company mismanaged this situation. They should have made constructive proposals long ago.

There are several paths converging forcing the company to act. Cathay will suffer future pilot shortfalls if sufficient TC's are not on the line. The 48 A350s will arrive, they can not be deferred. Cathay will transfer A330s to KA to crew the A350s. The contract award for the automated rostering system requires a long term RP in place.

This put the pilot groups in great power and at great risk.

How far CX is willing to go toward meeting the pilot's demands will be seen by 31 May. Not participating in these negotiations would be foolish. We must negotiate or by default we loose. The company will not give us everything we demand. How much and where will we compromise?

CC was to get to this point.

valhalla634 24th Apr 2016 07:06

Pain

The company has no intention in negotiating in good faith. See the picture of the black cat. Their plans are already in place and after 5 weeks will blame the impasse on the HKAOA.

By the way,

Loose = nice and comfy fit
Lose. = Not coming first

Flying Clog 24th Apr 2016 07:59

Nope. Please refer to the picture of the black cat on the previous page of this thread.

That's pretty much precisely the kind of attitude and end game we're up against.

:ugh:

Avinthenews 24th Apr 2016 08:24

Thread drift

Loose = nice and comfy fit
Lose. = Not coming first
Or

Testicles/balls (oo) hang loose unless you lose one (o)

flyhardmo 24th Apr 2016 08:39

What pilot demands. All we are asking for is negotiating in good faith. They keep taking away from our COS and then DEMAND we make concessions in order to get them back.

Avinthenews 24th Apr 2016 10:10

So true!

This is what we want, (read above)

And when it's given back, we'll NEGOTIATE what you'd LIKE and add some stuff that we'd like.

And if you're smart you'll realise what GOOD WILL has done for you for last 20+ years, and you'll PAY for it one way or another!

Hongkie land 24th Apr 2016 10:41
