I've been to EWR several times. It is commonly referred to as the "armpit" of the United States. Good thing you will be staying in Brooklyn or elsewhere in the City. It is true that EWR is accessible from Manhattan - easy bus or train ride.

I think the A332 makes sense SEA-HKG assuming that they don't plan to carry much, if any, cargo westbound in the winter. It is right at the outer reaches of the A332's range with 230-240 pax. Similarly, the 767-300/400ER makes sense to ICN. DL has a valuable code share with AS which connects SEA to several dozen US, Canadian, and Mexican cities.

CX could fill a 77W or A343 to SEA, but I think the priority is to use those aircraft to replace 744s on existing long haul routes rather than grow into new ones. The A350 represents the next big jump in long haul capacity for CX, which is probably why they are waiting to announce the route. Same for BOS, IMO.

Perhaps EWR is different because UA already competes with our 4xJFK service with their own 772 to EWR. EWR is much more convenient for a lot of West Village and NJ suburb passengers.
