Why bother to save $$$ when Cathay throw it away regardless?? Several cases (Confirmed) of people offering to stay on the freighter and PX to wherever and save $$$..but cannot ,

Case1: operate ANC - JFK px back to ANC...offered to stay on freighter, Crew control "Cannot, you have not signed the letter" so taxi to hotel, overnight + allowances, taxi to Newark $1200 Ticket to ANC

Case 2: Arrive ATL aircraft to op to YVR, YVR Capt offers to stay on the freighter and PX home........."Cannot, you have not signed the letter" $550 ticket ATL-YVR


Mr.Herpes needs his ass kicking............................those are just 2 of many examples, all to prove a point or what ???

I was told by someone rather close to the "situation" the bottom line is that ego's have been damaged, and they are taking their toys and going home. Money doesn't matter, it's all ego, and control.

Crew in sub continent sent to the hotel.....allowances......room costs....PX to HKG then PX to the UK. Lost Productivity,..... when if an equitable agreement was struck the crew would PX straight to UK?????

Every other dept is trying to SAVE MONEY AND REDUCE COSTS and because of a hissy fit by seemingly a single manager....suddenly cost is not a consideration so long as the crew can be jerked around to the maximum inconvenience to prove a point.

Surley the CEO cannot be aware of this bizarre corporate behaviour. It simply makes a mockery of trying to save a bit of gas here and there.

Taxi on one engine seems another joke attempt to save money. Talk with ATC management first. Cut out all holding speed reduction 4 hour 48 minute delays extra nights accommodation due to outrageous delays. etc

If you are in the left seat, this reply is for you: shouldn't have joined the freighter fleet then. You got your early command, ahead of many who are senior to you. Go back as a FO on the pax fleet or stop whining. Thank you and goodnight.

The offer was on the table, some said yes others said no. You weren't going to change COS no matter how hard you tried and saying no to any offer was certainly not going to strengthen anyones position. In fact an optimist might say that with people taking early Freight Command, it may have moved people up the list for Pax command..albeit limited I agree.

This makes absolutely no sense. How can people taking a command out of seniority move others up. It has exactly the opposite effect for those senior to the early freighter commander and no effect to those junior to them.

I guess you have to be pretty stupid to think early freighter commands are a good thing, that statement proves it. I have nothing against those who opted to take them but think it never should have been an option.

Agree, it should never have been an option. In any case, if you chose that option and took the early command, my point is that nobody want to hear any whining from you now. As pointed out earlier, you made your choice, now live with it.

And to insinuate that early command may have had a positive impact on time to command for others.....if that was the case, then I'd want everybody below me on the seniority list to get their command ahead of me. You can't be serious. Who are you trying to convince?

people who took early Freight command, DONT come across until there PAX seniority dictates AND they have done there 3 years...so no loss to those who DONT want Freight command..surely???

So by moving out of PAX seniority early, you give the next guy an early shot at PAX command ....albeit, as stated earlier, with limitations to this idea.

The freight only guys do us a favour, how many 2-3 sector night flights start after 10pm? Many of which are crewed by the based freighter only CNs, there would be many more ready to leave the B747 fleet if the roster was mainly this. The FOs can at least see light at the end of the tunnel.

Judging by the above rants some have never crewed a NA pattern with the inevitable delays, long days, fatigue and then expected to wait 4 hours for an 8 hour Y class seat.

Give your colleges a break, if your frustrated because you fly with a sidestick vent your anger elsewhere.
