It’s a bit like have Mr Joyce come and do some consulting at Qantas. Or having Mr Dahmer do some consulting at The Savoy Grill.

After all he’s a consultant now , all care and no responsibility.
Alex and Ronald will need to shoulder this one.

Pilot attrition will only ever become a problem when Greg decides that an improvement in CoS18 is due. It should improve just enough to attract the Malaysians and Indians away from their legacy carriers.

They will never be short of pilots, just too many aircrafts 🤣🤣🤣.
Good luck to them rebuilding the schedule, chances are the training department will suffer, they’ll be pressured to pass people with inadequate training.

So the fox is coming back into the hen house. What could go wrong. Putting a pilot hater back into an management role at CX is certainly going to go a long way in helping restore the relationship between the pilots and managements :/

Former dudes who are ex-777 that left after doing a short term on the 747 want to return to the 777 but they are being refused and told that the 747 is the only option. Meanwhile, flights are being cancelled.

Why are you surprised? This is the typical failures of the planning department and their famous phrase “Cannot”!

There’s no chance of that happening. Senior management are still licking their wounds after the fierce industrial backlash following the pilots’ 40% permanent pay cut for crew to be locked up in isolation while management took a meagre temporary cut to sit behind a desk and go home every night.
They’ve learnt their lesson.
(Assuming of course counting your MPP while watching your colleagues walk out the door is considered industrial action and hurting yourself laughing is considered a wound).

If CX can't cover seasonal illness then it isn't a crew illness problem, it is a lack of pilots problem (caused by Mis-Management) to cover what naturally occurs.
They have given up on direct entry FOs and Capts - apart from the wrongly terminated returnees, they were only getting aviation misfits. The big push is to recruit and train up SOs, but this will take years.
In the short term the GMO is putting together an application to HKCAD to lift the limit to 1000 hours. They will argue that with the JCR and BAM they can manage the fatigue. Another thing on their side is the complete disconnect between fatigue and its reporting. If you take Controlled Rest file an ASR-F. If you are too tired to do a duty don't call sick, call 'unable fatigue' and file an ASR-F.
If you think 1000 hours will mean more pay, you are deluded. They will adjust the thresholds.

Yes, good luck on that front, there is no way they'll get the ANO changed. The best they could hope for would be an exemption to the requirement which would require a significant safety case.

I guess one upside is that if he's contracting direct, and not through the overlords, then a lowly swire GM ranks higher on the pecking order?

Task force
Let’s see. Since 2019 we have lost:
-40% of our fixed pay
-housing assistance, in the most expensive real estate market in the world
-schooling assistance greatly slashed
-ALL bases, with absolutely no prospect of them ever coming back
-approximately 60% of our guaranteed monthly Provident Fund payments
-medical insurance greatly reduced, especially for family
-one/two weeks of yearly leave
-any certainty on how much you will get paid on any given month
-any visibility on your career progression, with seniority now being meaningless for upgrades & DECs and DEFOs
-any number of small perks, like being able to have family on jumpseats, or even simply get a positioning duty changed to another date (cannot)
I can’t for the life of me figure out what aircrew are whining about, hopefully the task force can figure it out
