CX no longer a career airline

Started with a sub par contract COS18 with rostering and pay rules that are some of the worst in the world. Seniority is gone which is the main factor of any career airline and now the last bright spot bases also gone. What a shame to see from an airline that has fallen from First to worst!!!

OZ & NZ. Something about a process of consultation though. CAN sounds like a hard closure.

Spare a thought for the many great guys/girls on Bases.

I am sure they are looking at OZ and NZ IAW the law. After the 49er lawsuits and Paris closure etc they have to comply with the laws of the countries that the pilots are based in.

Remind me, what was the end result of the 49er lawsuits?

Cx wants to get rid of seniority, reduce contract to less than any major airline in the world , cancel bases, now everyone knows this isn't even as good as a contract job. Further cuts to follow out of seniority for 777 and Airbus apparently in HK ,further cuts to benefits still under attack.

They might as well have closed everything down and started again because that’s effectively what they're doing bit by bit.

Are the CAN based guys being offered to move back to HK base, or just made them redundant?

Apparently all being offered provided they have the right to live and work. Ie not needing a work permit! Not looking good for all current work permit holders in hkg either if Cx are taking this stance

You’re right, the directors will meet shortly and chances are they’ll instigate another downsize. From there management has one month to see who goes and who stays and expect the announcement in June.

I’m guessing, this time, all non PR 777 rated pilots will be culled followed by non-PR Airbus pilots.

They seem to be making up as they go along. Only 6 months ago they took on 8 guys from ka. Now they are laying off senior based pilots. It’s a recurring theme head off in one direction then another.
One wonders whether they ever had a plan?

Indeed! To have a plan isa running an airline, you need an actual management with vision, skills, knowledge and experience.
What we have instead are a bunch of amateurs and clowns, who care about one thing, and one thing only: their precious BONUS at the end of the financial year.

Cut, cut, cut, collect bonus, move on. Repeat
