FAA Exam Centre

Having spent an hour online failing to find the answer, is there an FAA exam centre in Hong Kong or close Asian city? It is for a PPL or CPL written test.

The PSI web site demands a post code for their search page to work so that is not an answer.

Thanks in anticipation.

KADENA AFB in Okinawa has one. You might need to make a friend there first in order to escort you in.

Thanks for that, I did find on some web site that military bases are reserved for the military, and a foreign national would have no chance.

I'll try an email to the PSI people and tell them their web site doesn't work and maybe they will advise. I seem to remember that the Singapore US embassy used to provide the service many years ago. But maybe there are no overseas exam sites left.

There hasn’t been anywhere to sit them in SEAsia/Oceania for over a decade ... Flight Safety at Farnborough had approval but don’t know if they still do.

Thanks for that skywagon, looks like a trip to the US will be in future plans when the world gets back to normal.

Flight Safety seems a logical place to check.

The closest FAA from Hong Kong is either Guam or Saipan, I believe that United Airlines operated to both places (pre virus days).

Trend Vector Aviation International Inc, 7-3404 Neptune Avenue Barrigada Guam, GU 96913,

or

Marianas Aviation Services, Corner of Middle Road and Chalan Msgr Guerrero Saipan , MP 96950

I have enclosed a link that might be helpful. https://www.faa.gov/training_testing...ing_matrix.pdf

Singapore US embassy isn't that helpful these days they will tell you to get in contact with an FAA Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) either in SFO or LAX.

Best of luck.

PSI have a number of testing centers in HKG, I dont know which (if any) can do a FAA written. It maybe the case these testing centers do not have the books with the forecasts pictures in them for the exams.

There is a flying school in Guam where you can do the FAA written test. I think it is about $300 USD for the test fee. Guam is about 5 hours away from HK.

Thank you for these answers, it gives me something to research further. It looks as though I shall have to wait for flights to the US or Europe to open up and do the 14 days quarantine back into HKG when I return. There is no great rush for me.

Hi Anxio.

Did you find out any FAA testing center in Asia? Is there one in HK?

The world pretty much is back to normal, they just didn’t get the memo in HK (China).

No gave up on Asia and went to the USA as soon as it opened up in November 2021. OK for exams but the weather in the North West in November was - well, the weather in the North West in November, so got 3 hours in 28 days.

Will try again when HK quarantine and flights get easier. Patience is part of the PPL curriculum these days.
