CX expected to announce a profit for 2019 VS 13th month

Cathay Pacific to count the cost of Hong Kong unrest, as analysts predict losses for protest period

"Cathay Pacific Airways is likely to announce a small second-half loss but a full-year profit for 2019 on Wednesday, reflecting the impact of months of social unrest in Hong Kong, according to analysts.
The city’s embattled de facto flagship carrier is expected to deliver a 2019 profit of about HK$1.15 billion (US$148 million)..."

You hit the nail on the head. They have entered probably a blackout period like they did before they announced the last marketing plan and also before they announced time to win. Whatever might come they are afraid or aware of a market reaction.

Funny I was thinking exactly the same thing. They probably hedged at $50 and gave each other a big pat on the back for being so clever.
