Ask the new AOA chairman. He attended talks with GMA last week and the suspension of TD and CC was top of the agenda. The queque of Airbus captains wanting to join C&T is over 80 now. With one or two exceptions ALL AOA members who face expulsion UNDER CURRENT rules but not if the TB is lifted. The AOA faces extinction if these 70 leave the union. It is now a fight for survival.

HKAOA to lift TB.
Can the HKAOA Chairman unilaterally lift the training ban without the members' majority approval?

A strategy of union busting is to financially pressure the union.

Offering insurance protection to new trainers and “ forcing them to join the training department “ puts and 10+ 1.25 % pay and the saving on insurance premiums is great short term values for the forced or shall we say spineless: coerced volunteers. The union then has to play poker and decide what the move is.
The reality of Losing 70 plus captains membership dues.

Go all in?
raise the stakes?
fold?

Any union buster strategy is to delay and wait, time always favors the employer.

the aoa ( membership and split GC ) waited and waited. Thus it has now come to this .

what cards does the aoa president hold?

I thought the days of non pilot DFOs was **** canned by the HKCAD. AT was only allowed to finish her term with mandatory support of management pilots around her.

Considering the DFO, is the one that has to sign off of flight safely issues that crop up on occasion it was deemed the DFO should probably know what the decisions entail

Why and how DECs for freighter fleet? There is no shortage of captains on the freighter now, and the newly advertised based captain slots on the freighter have plenty of volunteers.

Silly pumper! You don’t think the HKAOA is a democratic organization, do you? They do what they please. The TA voted down by 79%, no worries, we’ll keep leading a membership that has no confidence in us and is mathematically definitively opposed. Such is the arrogance of the elites who are convinced they know better and are much smarter than YOU!

Precisely.

The members are the HKAOA.
The members have decided it will require a 67% vote to remove CC/TB.
Only the most naive think this will ever be achieved.

Is the company positioning themselves to adjust to the reality of a permanent CC/TB? They’d be spectacularly inept if they weren’t. If they do happen to be even more inept than we think, then there’s zero possibility of them negotiating a satisfactory outcome.

Anyone propagating an end to CC/TB is Muckraking. Anyone believing such a scenario is likely is ignorant.
