BOM turnaround, 15.15 FDP, Depart 1500 HKT, arrive 0505 HKT. Relief crew burn out at 0205 HKT.

SIN PEN PNH HKG.
All 2 man, fair amount of ground time hanging around
HAN HKG. 6 hrs wait. PX PVG. Transport to and from crew hotel
C. 3 hrs min rest PVG HKG.
HKG ANC MEX. MEX GDL.
GDL ANC. Then ANC MEX
GDL ANC then home.
I could go on; CMP at its finest with no pilot input.

What was more likely. CX buy &install a cool new system at great expense that is able to optimise pairings/ rosters in ways that could never be done manually.

They use the system to find ways to build better QOL rosters, with the same efficiency
They use the system to give crew a much improved QOL, at a small efficiency trade off, because they want content, rested crew
They use the system to squeeze every legal ounce of efficiency, regardless of QOL issues.

History repeats itself. They used to do this years ago, on TO from HK, they would ask the relief - what time do you burn out ?? The relief sat in the seat until then.

Used to do that without a fancy software program that cost US millions..

Don't even consider believing that CMP is for the benefit of crew. CX will only spend this much money and commit this many resources for the benefit if their own bottom line. PERIOD. Did you ever think otherwise?

Having been championed by the HKAOA, I would say they thought yes.

IIRC it was only in the Aussie vote that there was any meaningful pushback on it (but even then not enough).

CX has NO desire to provide the pilots with any sort of balanced and livable lifestyle. No matter what they say, their actions speak to the fact that all they care about is squeezing every drop of productivity out of each one of us. There will NEVER be a proper work/life balance at CX. In fact, it is destined to get worse, as a CMP that has no pilot input will result in a roster that plugs work into every imaginable moment of every day possible, based on the minimum G days that are in your contract. If you can get out and join a 'normal' airline back home, get out while you can. Otherwise, you will find your entire life consumed by this toxic place.

I know of a guy in "CMP" who asked why he has ONE day of RESERVE planted in between 4 and 5 G's. "Manual input" was the answer.

What makes you think Pilots have no input into CMP? I’ve been making inputs to my roster continuously, inserting psychological rest as needed.

If you are not, then you deserve the patterns you get. Remember UdtF are two days long now too.

It is apparent that CX is using CMP to actually degrade rostering, not improve it. I am certain, from what i've been seeing hearing from people who are involved that the outcome of this program will be entirely for the benefit of management, and the CX pilots will suffer an further breakdown of their lifestyles and health. For the usual suspects in crew scheduling to be able to 'manually' break up pairings to inject O or R days, and to completely disassemble pairings that were generated, means that the benefits that should accrue to the aircrew body are being killed at birth. The AOA seems strangely silent on the developing debacle. The time to push back is now, before a complete abortion is handed to us. It will be too late then. Having said that, it once again highlights the fact that any pilot who can secure a position with another main carrier can and should do so asap. At least most of your home carriers honour seniority, have work and labour rules and generally acknowledge that you are entitled to a life. CX has passed the point of no return. Make plans to protect you, your careers and your family, beginning with finding a decent employer. There really is no hope left at CX.

20 hours duty days will become the norm. 1 or 2 WOCL sectors into HK, a sub 7hr 40 transit ( to avoid requiring a hotel room) then PX somewhere else, probably in regional J class. I know what I'll be doing ; home, asr-f ,goodbye.

And if everyone would simply do the above, all these problem patterns would go away, but there are just so many heroes here at CX.

Yes, I witness some of these 'colleagues' of mine seemingly going out of their way to 'complete the mission', not for one minute realising that they are providing the fuel to the flame that is consuming them, their careers, their financial security and that of their families. It makes me ill. If all of us would simply push the effort just slightly in the other direction, this management would be on their knees. They must sit and laugh weekly reviewing all of the operational 'saves' we give them. Then, to rub salt in our wounds, I have to look at one of our grinning idiots prancing around on a float during the CNY parade.
