Tech Quiz

Myself and others have been noticing that those who are A350 trained [sic] on the 350 are now getting (Annual) tech questions on systems or parts of systems that were "never" covered during the paltry 4 tech "embellishment" days given.
No time off "prior" to the A350"embellishment" course (DL or other) are rostered to give preparation time for the course either..
Isn't it nice to see the further dumbing down of your career happening right before your eyes ?
Then, a further slap in the face is we all have to sit back annually and take a tech quiz (i.e. get tested) on systems or knowledge that we have never been instructed in.

They must be sitting upstairs laughing their heads off at how we fall for this scam.

Flex, if you don't feel suitably qualified technically, surely you have a moral and professional obligation to go to the Chief Pilot and request to be removed from the A350 roster?

Ahhhhh, Slam Click.

You like working for free and being subjected to tests in areas of knowledge where you have never had the benefit of training [sic] that would be expected in previous years... This to the advantage of your employer and a disadvantage to YOU and your career.
Good for you

At 51 deg N, I suspect you're in the UK and voted to REMAIN as well. We're all the same right?

Tosser.

Flex, let me get this straight, if you have not been instructed on how to do something or how something works you don't want to know about it. Please let me know when your flying next as I nor my family will fly with you.
You are paid to be a professional pilot which includes self education otherwise you should work in a repetitive office job if you want to be able to sit back an say it's not my job.

I could just imagine Sully's response to that attitude.

Open a book, read.

Simple.

come on FLEX, if they taught you every detail in the FCOM you would be there for 2 years doing a full engineering degree on the aircraft, there has to be some accountability on your side. The course leads you in the right direction but ultimately there will be home study. If you are on the 350 already you must have been in the airline for a while now and find it hard to believe you haven't figured this out already

Reality check! The tech quiz doesn't test you on systems or knowledge at all. It is just a regulatory box ticking exercise and a challenge to how well you can use a search function! Just get on with it....and then spend your time learning about your new amazing, similar to an A30, A50.

Always interesting to see reactions from different people. I'd have just answered the A50 questions if they had appeared and hit submit. I'm not on the A50 but don't think passing the questions would be a big deal even without training.

If they treat us like professionals then we should act like professionals.

I think most of us have the integrity to act like professionals all the time even if the management don't.

I did get one question wrong on the A350 stuffs, but more because of trying to answer that question at 5am HKT somewhere over Mongolia when my brain was not functioning properly. Got the reference right but somehow picked the wrong answer

You found the answer, you found the reference, you failed the English test. Unfortunately having a tech quiz is not good enough. Someone is always trying to trick you.

The options were green, yellow and red triangle (gear unsafe warning). I guess whoever wrote the exam must have worked for CASA...
