News reports are indicating that , this aircraft had previously lost a wingtip during a taxiing accident in 2012 in Shanghai . It may well be news chaff . But sadly it sounds like the aircraft suffered a catastrophic event

Most likely terrorists on board at this stage...

-They have found out two pax travelled with stolen passports.
-Some reports seem to indicate a distress call mentioning fuselage damage.

Now, that's just me, but it was a flight whose majority of pax were Chinese, the flight was code shared with China Southern I believe. Malaysia is a pretty good place for islamist terrorist cells to operate due to the local affinity for hard-lined Quran-bashing.

That's just a hunch, but that's where I'd put my money.

In the meantime, may they all rest in peace and my deepest feelings to the families and friends.

Well I'm glad that's all sorted then.
So much easier reading this quick summary than 36 pages of the main thread where PPLs, SLFs, and assorted wannabes and know-alls telling us it was meteorites, hijacking, bombs planted overnight, wing flutter from previous repair, 4dodgy mustaffas using stolen passports, suicide, depressurization with no masks, high level mishandling, Anwars supporters, Putins supporters and the best one - aliens!

How long will it be before somebody spoofs a US cable TV station with the names of the dodgy 4. Luckily, BangDingOw, SumTingWong et al are already taken, any suggestions.....

Chaps, if you want to run a separate thread here about MH 370 fair enough, but do not continue to repeat the same drivel repeated every two pages because the x-sim brigade cannot be a**sed to read the previous posts.

In R&N maybe 1 in 50 posts may have a useful point.

There are professional pilots that have good points to make on this forum, but a post like the previous is outdated and pointless.

Good Gen or go back to R&N

Sounds like CX in 1972, over Vietnam. Unfortunate no matter what the cause.

MH 370

The search is now being conducted south of malaysia. Seems a very long way from initial LOC. Could it have been hijacked...wouldn't go as far to say hijacked and shot down bit the search area seems bizarre.
