Fdcg27,

You're right. Unfortunately, the US Commander in Chief is a joke and everyone knows it, including China.

Missed Opportunity:

Why can't some of you people realise that China has a long memory ? The past has not been forgotten especially with regards to Japan. Since the PLA took charge of Chinese interests there has been eight downings and all of them for the same reason, ie infringement of China's territorial airspace.
Five U-2s, One EP-3, One DC-4, One C47. A precedent has been well and truly set.

cxorcist;
When you wrote that rubbish in Post 20 I'd bet London to a brick that every stitch of clothing you were wearing at the time was made in China. Your mention of North Korea reminded me of the two high profile scalps the DPRK scooped up during the cold war. Also territorial infringements.

...erm...wasn't the EP-3 'downing' the result of an incompetent Chinese fighter pilot running into one of its propellers? Number 1 if I'm not mistaken. It shattered his canopy and after that for him, 'the pubs were all shut, mate'.

(Like running into an ox cart when you are driving a Porsche).

Passenger safety not at risk for planes which fly over China's new air defence zone
What about all that blathering by the PLAAF on 121.5 demanding this and that - unnecessarily interfering with the emergency frequency - that affects flight safety.

OP are you including DC-4 VR-HEU 23/7/54 CX712 BKK-HKG? except that there was no "infringement" the PLAAF shot us down over international waters. This was the original "Hainan Incident" and the compensation paid by Beijing set the precedent for the US Govt payout to Iran when the US Navy shot down an Iran Air Airbus over the Persian Gulf
See here for VR-HEU:
VR-HEU

This ridiculous ADIZ declaration is not with out danger so be careful out there.

CXorcist is spot on!

The Iranians, Russians, Syrians, and yes the Chinese play the current C and C like a fiddle.

It's plain to all those not living in world of denial that the emperor has no clothes.

Khubilai Khan:

Jizzmonkey;

What's the matter with you ?? The two failed invasions of Japan in 1274 and 1281 were the brainchild of Khubilai Khan. He was Mongolian !!!
His second attempt in 1281 had his Mongol troops supported by a contingent of both Korean and Chinese soldiers but the entire affair failed only because of a typhoon. The Japanese still give thanks for their good luck.
